The miata cage one sounds like it puts any dished wheel into your chest, with the whole putting an undished wheel 1.5 inches closer than the stock wheel. Stop resisting, you must assimilate into the NRG quickrelease runners so half the world can interchange cars and steering wheels.

ewww NRG ewwwwwwww

its 1.5" compare to a stock steering wheel.
hub + qr + deep dish wheel = in your chest.

Thats what I said. That the first miata cage one you posted would put your dished wheel in your chest. And NRG slim hub + slim QR + dish wheel = where the stock wheel is or NRG slim hub + normal QR + dish wheel = like 1.5 inches closer than stock.

Ok
I have ebay hub and ebay 90mm (measured) dish wheel. I likes it and its way further than stock wheel.

So if I added 2.5" QR and 65mm wheel, it would be 1.5" closer to me. I'd like to avoid that.

Right, but if you switched to an NRG slim hub and slim quickrelease with your 65mm wheel it would end up about an inch further away from you than it is now. Or a normal qr on the slim hub would put it in around the same spot as now.

I have LTB's splined QR. Think I got it when it was still $99. I don't think mine has worn out, but it does have a little play. I barf at the quality and feel of other's NRG QRs. But they work.

NRG slim QR is full of AIDS. Hustletron posted about how his was full of fail. They also have play once the wheel is attached. A friend here has one and It feels like **** when the wheel is on the car. It's the same as having a bad tie rod end.

I heard the slim hubs sucked too, then I drove one. It seemed fine. A lot better than the ebay one I bought and then threw away. The full sized NRG one is the real deal and actually miata cage recommended if you call the guy.

I'm happy with my NRG 2.5 QR. A deep dish wheel like his would probably be best mounted directly on the NRG hub adapter. You will have to drill the holes so that the turn signals cancel properly.

cons:

- 2 hand operation

otherwise its perfect.

That (1.1") plus the NRG short hub (1.3") will be the same length as the ebay adapter (2.4"). With the ebay adapter and that, the 65mm wheel will be .125" closer to you than your current 90mm wheel.

err um, that math doesnt add up. Shouldnt it be 25mm further away than his current setup? 25mm = 1 inch.

I have 2.4" (ebay spacer) + 90mm ("ebay poverty wheel") = ~5.95
Then 3.5" (ebay spacer 2.4" + snap off 1.1") + 65mm (Sparco baller wheel) = ~6.06
So really ~.11"

Oh, I had
2.4" + 90mm = ~6"
1.1" + 1.3" + 65mm = ~5"
1.3" + 2.1" + 65mm = ~6"

yep and I already have ebay adapter, so its a win.

It will have to wait until next month, though, because I now have a hard limit of spending on the miata per month.

Two-handed release operation is not really a con. You need both hands to remove the wheel with any QR

With the NRG at just the right angle to hit the safety pin just right its only 1 hand.
