Yea, this weekend I'll take some time to simplify the fuel stuff and get rid of a bunch of intersecting lines. Re plumb the vacuum things and run everything off the back end. I hope this solves the oscillation.

I'll relocate the sensor to the frame or firewall, but it says in it's specs that it's able to withstand vibration from 100-20,000Hz, 20g sinusoidal.

send new logs once everything is fixed so we're not putting a bandaid on a bandaid

EO2K 08-24-2017 04:10 PM

FWIW I was on a MAC valve, we couldn't get the one that came with the EFR to work at all IIRC.

I'm following along closely here. I'm going to tap 18psi when it comes time to get the 4 port valve/2 port actuator working, hopefully with something other than the 1.3.x or 1.4.x I'm running now.

18psi 08-24-2017 04:14 PM

yes your efr came with a dead valve. and you're on 1.3.x iirc

I have a strange feeling once OP fixes the leaks and re-locates his line it should be ok

tuning 2 other EFR Miata's aside from his right now and no one else seems to have this funkiness

EO2K 08-24-2017 05:38 PM

Humm... I need to dig back through my pics and see if I can figure out what I was using for a source.

So... The plenum was siliconed gross. Probably when the shop sent the injectors out for cleaning. Stuffed the runners and cleaned the surfaces and laid out a new gasket. Thank God I have so many spares.

Mounted the MAP sensor to the firewall and tee's off the back port per Mt.Net SOP.

The busted ass fpr hose was too tight of a fit to use the same reference so I ran a skinnywinny hose to the top mini port of the intake manifold behind the throttle body

So far, log looks a lot better and seems to have cured the oscillation. From a 4th-5th-6th pull, things looked great but there was a surprising rpm blip which freaked me out so I shut down. In the forthcoming log, it'll be apparent in the end.

Thanks Miataturbo!

Will post up soon, but for now some hipster shit:

don't want to speak too soon, but the boost oscillation definitely looks to be cured :likecat:

and that ramen looks tasty

Revision sent, with notes/comments.

*Fingers crossed*

I'd make fun of you for posting your dinner, but man that looks tasty.

its hard to diagnose boost leak with a powerful/capable turbo and speed density, because often those two things will just mask the leak. on mass airflow cars, a leak like that would cause the car to flip out entirely

surprising rpm blip which freaked me out so I shut down
that, sir, is called overboost protection/boost cut :likecat:

as I explained in the email, looks like the car's making more boost now that you fixed a leak

yup, no more oscillation :likecat:

psyber_0ptix 08-28-2017 12:02 AM

Yay boost cut!

18psi 08-28-2017 12:05 AM

raise it from 260 to 280 and call it a day. or we can bump down the boost duty. your call

on e85 is where we'll shoot for the stars

psyber_0ptix 08-31-2017 09:08 AM

Raised the boost cut and now it's pretty cozy. Feels great.

I've been sick the past two days. In that time, I got my car inspected yesterday, had to fix my horn on the spot which I totally forgot about. I'm not sure why I didn't take the 10 minutes to do this before. Among other 'interestingly missing' equipment, I passed.
Picked up 12 gallons of e85 to help flush and change over whenever that time comes.

Today I'm off to Seattle for the Labor Day weekend before I head out again for 2-3 weeks later in September.

Future projects:
Oil cooler hoses (why did I wait so long?)
Revisit oil drain scheme (Thanks Aidan)
Flanges for brake ducts
Weld on that 4th hanger Shuiend gave me a year ago
New catch can setup (Vibrant 2 port happy face can)
Fix A/C (will need new condenser)
Radiator ducting
Splitter (kmo25 ?)
MAC EBC/2 port Wastegate?

This makes me feel like I might have had a leak somewhere...

Definitely check. I'm surprised the VE table didn't need any other adjusting with how jank the FPR hose was. (Or maybe it did as Vlad was mentioning it was a little too lean up top)

18psi 08-31-2017 01:52 PM

Umm, yes I actually did add fuel to your VE table. As well as enabled CL fueling in boost which now makes adjustments here and there to keep it safe.

psyber_0ptix 08-31-2017 06:06 PM

That was before the vacuum fixes right? Either way, I am hoping it's on to see some happier days soon

18psi 08-31-2017 06:38 PM

It was after :) You went almost a full point leaner in AFR with the fix.
Which means you're flowing more air. which means you're making more power. which is expected after you fix a leak. which is good

kmo25 09-01-2017 12:38 AM

I might be able to help you with more than a splitter. I have an A/C condenser from a 99 sitting in my garage right now.
