X x .585 % wage/salary workers = 81,900,000 wage/salary workers
81,900,000 / .585 = 140,000,000 full time
140,000,000 + 81,900,000 = ~221,900,000 total work force
1,700,000 workers at or below the federal minimum / 221,900,000 twf = 0.0076% of the total working population.
Min wage employees are statistically insignificant.

The market should drive the economy, not the law.

None of this even matters. Here's what matters:

Watching the inauguration. (Well, listening to it, as PGM audio is in the headset loop.)
That was, in all sincerity, one of the best denouncements since the end of the Stalin era.

what's your point here? I linked BLS as the source. https://www.bls.gov/opub/reports/min.../2018/home.htm
I mean, you're only off by 61 million people.

I don't believe 75% of republicans have ever agreed on something before.

A CNN poll, released on Sunday and conducted by SSRS between January 9 and 14, shows that 75 percent of Republicans do not think that Biden won the election legitimately, compared to 1 percent of Democrats and 36 percent of independents.

im going by the text: In 2018, 81.9 million workers age 16 and older in the United States were paid at hourly rates, representing 58.5 percent of all wage and salary workers
what i did wrong was add them back into 140,000,000.
so therefore:
1,700,000 workers at or below the federal minimum / 140,000,000 twf = 0.012% of the total working population.

It's terrifying that you claim this with such passion and conviction, when it's clear you have never read the Fair Labor Standards act of 1938 and could not possibly be more wrong if you tried. Roosevelt said, “In my Inaugural I laid down the simple proposition that nobody is going to starve in this country. It seems to me to be equally plain that no business which depends for existence on paying less than living wages to its workers has any right to continue in this country.
I'm sorry you think the FLS means "living wage". Look at any of the metrics you'd need to understand in order to create a living wage in each city of every state and then you'll realize your position isn't supported. Does an 18yr old High School Senior have the same "living wage" as a 38yr old adult providing for a stay at home mom and 2 young children?
Lastly, your reference to the woke "inclusive" Miata forum is just shameful. You don't mean inclusive, you mean single thought. Big difference. Do you own a business or have you ever been in charge of the P&L for a division where labor was involved? It sounds like you have zero idea of what running a business entails.
[QUOTE=poormxdad;1591149
What is really terrifying is seeing the grins in dimwitted people's brains when I suggest making the minimum wage $100 per hour. It wouldn't change their lives one bit, but they'd be paying more in taxes.[/QUOTE]
Bingo. An uncomfortable truth. Biden's ludicrous claim of "this $15/hr wage will lift people out of poverty" is stupefying. Wages don't "lift you out of poverty", but a pattern of wise decisions with hard work will. That's why the concept of "middle class" is a politician's lie - the definition isn't earnings, it's debt.
I'm not hopeful in waiting for people to wake up and use rational logic with their brains to realize the charade that just occurred with the fake election.
They believe Biden got more overall votes than any candidate in history? Yet his rallies were either non-existent or a dozen people showed up (I'm happy to refer to this as 500ppl if it makes anyone feel better) and no one watches his live feeds. Meanwhile Trump is doing multiple rallies each day with 10K to 30K people, there are vehicle parades, and his social media engagement is massive.
They're eager to rejoin the terrible Paris Climate accord. Climate change is so bad that the USA needs to be restricted and fined, while the world's WORST polluters (China, India, and Russia) get to continue building the dirtiest coal fired power plants through 2030?! If Climate Change is man made and taxing the USA is helpful, why aren't all countries cutting production?
Path to citizenship for 11M illegal aliens. I think this number is closer to 30M, but whatever. How does it benefit the USA to bring in the absolute poorest, lowest educated, lowest skilled workers and sign them up onto our welfare programs? Studies show that immigrants from Mexico, Guatamala, Honduras, etc. consume social benefits more than the lowest skilled US workers and immigrants stay on social service programs for longer and they only increase the size of our poverty segment.

1: I am not denying that fraud occurred. In fact, I don't know of anyone who is denying that, with the exception of 99% of Democrats, the vast majority of the media, and pretty much everyone else who dislikes scary orange man.
2: Both Pew and Gallup say that the percentage of Americans who identify as Republican (both as a share of the population as a whole, as well as a share of registered voters) has been in decline for the past 15 years or so, with that trend accelerating early on in Trump's term. Sources for data:
https://news.gallup.com/poll/315734/...democrats.aspx
https://www.pewresearch.org/politics...raphic-groups/
3: Many people would tend to describe the remaining minority of the US population who identify as Republican (a particularly those who specifically support / approve-of former President Trump) as a "fringe group." I'm not being sarcastic about that, it's the truth. The Republican party has done a lot of damage to itself over the past few decades.
