Notice the 2 guys standing in the street holding the backpacks? They are IN THE STREET. Because the bombs have already gone off in those pictures, otherwise why would they be casually standing in the middle of the marathon? It's kinda hard to plant the bomb in your backpack if both have already gone off.

From what I understand, there were actually two loadouts of the MkII. The original WWII style used conventional E.C. Powder. The one pictured above, however, was a later (Korea-era?) variant which used a TNT fill, and a blasting-cap style fuse. This is indicated by the yellow band painted around the neck of the grenade.

But yes, the smokeless powder variety was apparently much more common, and is the reason I chose that specific grenade as my "opposite extreme" example in the comparison. So far as I am aware, the pineapple grenade still represents one of the most efficient designs ever created for producing a high energy shockwave-and-fragmentation effect from conventional low yield propellant such as gunpowder/cordite.

So many junior investigators "solving" this bombing lol. Every other post on reddit is someone with a missing link. Not saying it isn't worth passing up to the proper authorities, but some of this stuff is quite far-fetched. Not to mention the "suspects" that people are picking out are most likely victims themselves. So now not only are the falsely accused of a bombing they were a victim of, but there is a witch hunt out to get them.

Gotta love the internet.
