Liberal and libertarian is SUPPOSED to mean the same thing.

Modern usage seems to be that those who are for equality are libertarians, those who are for equity are liberals.

Of course people who are statists yet call themselves liberals and who want equity don;t ever use the word equity, they use the word equality in it's place.

This is of course on purpose, because most people don't know the difference and know that equality is by definition, fair, whereas equity is the intentional swaying of the balance in an unfair way to achieve an end goal.

TLDR, people who call themselves liberal for equality are almost always statists for equity.

The fucking opposite..

Welcome to the United Police States of America, Where Police Shoot First & Ask Questions Later

For the sake of 13-year-old Andy Lopez, we can be silent no more. The Santa Rosa teen was shot dead after two sheriff’s deputies saw him carrying a toy BB gun in public. Lopez was about 20 feet away from the deputies, his back turned to them, when the officers took cover behind their car and ordered him to drop the “weapon.” When Lopez turned around, toy gun in his hand, one of the officers—a 24-year veteran of the force—shot him seven times. The time span between the deputies calling in a suspicious person sighting and shooting Lopez was a mere ten seconds. The young boy died at the scene. Clearly, no attempt was made to use less lethal force.

Rationalizing the shooting incident, Lt. Paul Henry of the Santa Rosa Police Department explained, “The deputy’s mindset was that he was fearful that he was going to be shot.” Yet as William Norman Grigg, a commentator for LewRockwell.com, points out, such a “preoccupation with ‘officer safety’ … leads to unnecessary police shootings. A peace officer is paid to assume certain risks, including those necessary to de-escalate a confrontation with someone believed to be a heavily armed suspect in a residential neighborhood. A ‘veteran’ deputy with the mindset of a peace officer would have taken more than a shaved fraction of a split-second to open fire on a small male individual readily identifiable as a junior high school student, who was carrying an object that is easily recognizable as a toy—at least to people who don’t see themselves as an army of occupation, and view the public as an undifferentiated mass of menace.”

Unfortunately, this police preoccupation with ensuring their own safety at all costs—a mindset that many older law enforcement officials find abhorrent in light of the more selfless code on which they were trained—is spreading like a plague among the ranks of police officers across the country, with tragic consequences for the innocent civilians unlucky enough to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Yet the fatality rate of on-duty patrol officers is reportedly far lower than many other professions, including construction, logging, fishing, truck driving, and even trash collection. In fact, police officers have the same rate of dying on the job as do taxi drivers.

Nevertheless, according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, 400 to 500 innocent people are killed by police officers every year. That does not include the number of unarmed individuals shot and injured by police simply because they felt threatened or feared for their safety. This is the danger of having a standing army (which is what police forces, increasingly made up of individuals with military backgrounds and/or training, have evolved into) that has been trained to view the citizenry as little more than potential suspects, combatants and insurgents.

...

So what is the answer?

How should we as a society respond when we hear about the Las Vegas police officer who shot an unarmed man at a convenience store whom he “thought” was a homicide suspect, or the Los Angeles cop who shot an unarmed man seen leaving a convenience store where an ATM had been robbed of $40 or the DC cops who killed a young mother in a hail of gunfire? As John Grant notes for Counterpunch: “The ignominious and unnecessary public killing of Miriam Carey should be a human marker that triggers our cultural meaning machine to honestly consider what’s wrong with the picture of a howling pack of cops shooting down a troubled young mother … like a dog.”

The current practice is to let the police deal with it themselves by suspending the officer involved with administrative pay, dragging out the investigation until the public forgets about the incident, and then eventually declaring the shooting incident justified based on the officer’s fear for his safety, and allowing him to go back to work as usual. Meanwhile, the epidemic of police violence continues to escalate while fear of the police increases and the police state, with all its surveillance gear and military weaponry, expands around us.

If ever there were a time to de-militarize and de-weaponize local police forces, it’s now. The same goes for scaling back on the mindset adopted by cops that they are the law and should be revered, feared and obeyed. As for the idea that citizens must be compliant or risk being treated like lawbreakers, that’s nothing more than authoritarianism with a badge. As Grant points out: “As the public killing of Miriam Carey should make clear, a significant part of the problem is cops and the pack mentality they too often resort to. These men and women are encouraged to see themselves on “the front line” protecting us, the people. They are pumped up with post-911 fears and adrenaline and, when it hits the fan, relentlessly determined to get their man or woman. A lot of reality can get lost in this process.”

In other words, it’s time for a reality check, for both the police and the citizens of this nation, and a good place to start is with the words of that gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson, who warned: “Coming of age in a fascist police state will not be a barrel of fun for anybody, much less for people like me, who are not inclined to suffer Nazis gladly and feel only contempt for the cowardly flag-suckers who would gladly give up their outdated freedom to live for the mess of pottage they have been conned into believing will be freedom from fear.”

4 On Your Side looks into traffic stop gone horribly wrong for Lordsburg man | KOB.com

According to a federal lawsuit, Eckert didn’t make a complete stop at a stop sign coming out of the parking lot and was immediately stopped by law enforcement.

Eckert’s attorney, Shannon Kennedy, said in an interview with KOB that after law enforcement asked him to step out of the vehicle, he appeared to be clenching his buttocks. Law enforcement thought that was probable cause to suspect that Eckert was hiding narcotics in his ---- cavity. While officers detained Eckert, they secured a search warrant from a judge that allowed for an ---- cavity search.

The lawsuit claims that Deming Police tried taking Eckert to an emergency room in Deming, but a doctor there refused to perform the ---- cavity search citing it was “unethical.”

But physicians at the Gila Regional Medical Center in Silver City agreed to perform the procedure and a few hours later, Eckert was admitted.

What Happened

While there, Eckert was subjected to repeated and humiliating forced medical procedures. A review of Eckert’s medical records, which he released to KOB, and details in the lawsuit show the following happened:

1. Eckert’s abdominal area was x-rayed; no narcotics were found.

2. Doctors then performed an exam of Eckert’s anus with their fingers; no narcotics were found.

3. Doctors performed a second exam of Eckert’s anus with their fingers; no narcotics were found.

4. Doctors penetrated Eckert’s anus to insert an enema. Eckert was forced to defecate in front of doctors and police officers. Eckert watched as doctors searched his stool. No narcotics were found.

5. Doctors penetrated Eckert’s anus to insert an enema a second time. Eckert was forced to defecate in front of doctors and police officers. Eckert watched as doctors searched his stool. No narcotics were found.

6. Doctors penetrated Eckert’s anus to insert an enema a third time. Eckert was forced to defecate in front of doctors and police officers. Eckert watched as doctors searched his stool. No narcotics were found.

7. Doctors then x-rayed Eckert again; no narcotics were found.

8. Doctors prepared Eckert for surgery, sedated him, and then performed a colonoscopy where a scope with a camera was inserted into Eckert’s anus, rectum, colon, and large intestines. No narcotics were found.

Throughout this ordeal, Eckert protested and never gave doctors at the Gila Regional Medical Center consent to perform any of these medical procedures.

...

The Lawsuit
David Eckert is suing The City of Deming and Deming Police Officers Bobby Orosco, Robert Chavez and Officer Hernandez.

Eckert is also suing Hidalgo County Hidalgo County Deputies David Arredondo, Robert Rodriguez and Patrick Green.

Eckert is also suing Deputy District Attorney Daniel Dougherty and the Gila Regional Medical Center including Robert Wilcox, M.D and Okay Odocha, M.D.

The old term for "libertarian" is "liberal", and today is called "classical liberal". The word "liberal" was hijacked by the social democrats/socialists (who are of course, statists). It's DOUBLESPEAK.

The original term "left" referred to the folks sitting on the left side of the French assembly. They were for liberalization - reduction in laws restricting trade and the market. The "left" was also hijacked, by the Marxists.

You are right, today it's clearer to speak of statists/libertarians, social conservative/liberals, fiscal conservative/liberals, and war hawks/non-interventionists.

On 8.27.13 between 6 - 6:30 p.m. as I walked from my home to my car in my town house complex parking lot I noticed a white Pontiac Grand Prix and a Canton Michigan police car pull in front of my vehicle blocking me in to the parking space. Without identifying himself a white male wearing all black exited the grand prix followed by an also unidentified uniformed police officer from the police cruiser and begin to order me to produce some identification. Neither person explained to me the situation or why they needed the identification and it was only after I asked why they needed my I.D. did they simply say that I "fit the description". Knowing that I hadn't done anything wrong or illegal I mentioned to them that there was no reason for me to give them my I.D. and conveyed to them that I was still uncertain as to what was actually happening. Therefore I continued to ask questions in order to gain a better understanding as to why they were becoming more and more agitated without provocation from myself. My inquires gained very few answers and only caused them to both raise their voices in an attempt to intimidate me further. Surrounding me in an threatening aggressive manner they treated me as if my guilt was a foregone conclusion.

I told them that I was going to reach into my pocket and retrieve my phone to call 911 because I felt threatened and wanted to speak with a Supervisor. They yelled that they were the cops and to immediately remove my hands from my pockets; an known police tactic to make it seem as if I was being uncooperative in order to warrant them escalating their actions. Still standing at the rear of my vehicle they took a offensive posture preparing to take me down to the ground while implying over the radio to police dispatch that I was being in their words irrational. For my own safety and protection I then moved to the side of my vehicle and began to record the entire incident with my cellphone camera. With me no longer standing between the officers and the rear of my vehicle Officers Champagne and DeYoung began to conduct an illegal search of the my trunks contents until they noticed I had been filming them which caused them to shy away. The only bright spot during this incident was my interaction with an Officer Voet whom calmly and with respect finally explained the on-going situation to me regarding a woman being flashed nearby earlier.

My concern isn't with being stopped or questioned (although clearly it had to be obvious to the officers involved that I didn't match the callers actual description) it was the manner in which Officers Champagne and DeYoung along with their cohorts chose to perform that task. Instead of identifying themselves and explaining the situation in a respectful way they chose instead to use intimidation as a means to gain the desired information/response from me. Even after the 'victim' in the case confirmed that I was indeed not the perpetrator no officer expressed any regret for their actions. They instead continued to try to convince me why their previous harassing activities were justified. This behavior continued was I went to secure a copy of the police report under the Freedom of Information Act on 8.29.13 as I was in the civilian records office a Detective Baugh investigating the case sent an armed officer to demand my identification even though I had already given it to one of the records workers. I told that officer that the Detective himself is more than welcome to come and speak with me if needed which he eventually did. That is when it became apparent to me that intimidating coercive language rather than respectful dialogue is clearly engrained as a communication method within the Canton Police Dept. as the Detective himself tried to convince me that I was overreacting and should "understand" how certain mistakes can be made.

Actually I don't understand how I should bury my head and relent by allowing rogue law enforcement officials use shock and awe type methods instead of good police work to accomplish goals. I don't believe that using the phrase "fit the description" can justify ill treatment of certain citizens. "Fitting the description" shouldn't not allow law enforcement officers to randomly round up persons that fit 2 out of the 8 description characteristics (black & male), which from the police report I learned another citizen in the area (black & male) had suffered this same fate. My hope is that by exposing this incident to public scrutiny it will offer the Canton Police department the opportunity to take a glimpse at how some of the citizens which they are sworn to protect feel about such treatment. Perhaps through mandatory diversity training these officers and the supervisors that command them will in the future choose to express some humility while recognizing all citizens deserve to be treated in a fair manner despite their own preconceived notions.

Michael Saffioti turned himself in to jail for a misdemeanor warrant for marijuana possession. Within 24 hours, he was dead.

VIDEO: Video shows man dying inside jail of food allergies | www.kirotv.com

When it came time for breakfast the following morning, Saffioti is seen on video having a conversation with a guard while holding his tray. Presumably, he was inquiring about any dairy products in the meal. Saffioti had a severe allergy. He's then seen taking a few bites of some oatmeal. (You can watch the video here.)

The awfulness that followed is detailed by KIRO TV.

Within a few minutes, Saffioti was back at the guard desk, using his inhaler.

According to the legal claim, he asked to see a nurse.

Instead, he was sent to his cell.

Over the next half hour, the video shows other inmates looking in Saffioti's cell as he jumped up and down.

The legal claim says he pressed his call button and was ignored.

It also alleges that the guards told him h was "faking."

About 35 minutes after he ate, a guard found Saffioti unconscious in his cell. The guard called for help and Saffioti was dragged out.

Nurses arrived and performed CPR. Everett firefighters took over and rushed Saffioti to the hospital where he was pronounced dead a half hour later.

Witnesses: Police cruiser runs down man on bike in Hunting Park | 6abc.com

He says it began when he and his father Robert got into a heated argument and his father called police to calm him down.

"I called the police officers, but they responded the wrong way cause I told them, 'it's no emergency or anything,'" Robert Lugo said.

But responding officers thought Juan was involved in a robbery and witnesses say they chase him down as he was riding his bike near 5th and Lycoming.

"I see them, they make a U-turn, they came right behind him and instead of cutting him off real short and nicely, they jumped the curb, hit him with the car, he goes up in the air and that was it," witness Roberto Aponte said.

"Didn't hear no sirens. And boom, right into the man. Squished him in half. I thought he was dead," witness Sandra LaPorte said.

"They seen him and it was like he was wanted for murder, I mean look at that, look at that cop car, that doesn't make no sense," Mario's brother Robert Lugo, Jr. said.

Lugo and the two 25th district officers who suffered minor injuries in the crash were all taken to the hospital.

A FATHER whose teenage son was shot dead by police after he called 911 to teach the boy a lesson for stealing his truck has revealed his heartbreak.

James Comstock said his son Tyler Comstock, 19, took his vehicle without permission before he was killed on Monday.

"He took off with my truck. I call the police, and they kill him," Comstock, from Iowa in the United States, told The Des Moines Register.

"It was over a damn pack of cigarettes. I wouldn’t buy him none. I lose my son for that."

Police pursued Tyler as he drove around a crowded Iowa State University campus, before ramming patrol officer Adam McPherson's car.

Once the truck stopped, the teenager refused to cut the engine.

Students dived for cover as the officer fired six shots into the truck.

High-powered weapons stolen from FBI SWAT vehicle | North - WCVB Home

Two high-powered rifles were stolen from an FBI SWAT vehicle in Andover, the FBI's Boston office said Thursday.

The weapons, a Colt M16-A1 rifle and an HS Precision Pro-Series 2000 sniper rifle, were taken from the government vehicle Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.

During that same time, items were stolen from other vehicles parked at nearby homes in Andover, the FBI said.

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $20,000 for the two weapons.

"The FBI continues to devote significant resources to locate these weapons (and) determine who stole them," the bureau said in a statement.

Earlier Wednesday, a bulletproof, tactical FBI vest was stolen from a car in Boston's South End. The theft was made from a Dodge Caravan parked at Edgerly Road and Burbank Street sometime before 7:15 a.m., Boston Police said.

There was no indication the two thefts were related.

The Investigators: Teen spends 3 years in jail and robbery charges dropped | 7online.com

In May of 2010, Browder was a 16-year-old tenth grader, walking home on Arthur Avenue in the Bronx after a party. "This guy comes out of nowhere and says I robbed him. And the next thing I know they are putting cuffs on me. I don't know this dude. And I do over three years for something I didn't do."

Browder's family couldn't make the $10,000 bail on the robbery charges, and he had a legal aid attorney. Browder is now represented by a civil rights law firm.

"Someone who did not know Kalief Browder, and simply told the police officer, 'Officer I was robbed two weeks ago and that kid did it', that's where it ended. That was the identification," said Browder's attorney, Paul Prestia. Browder said that at the time, the stress was overwhelming, and at some point he tried to commit suicide.

"I mean like every time I go to court, I think I'm, going home, and I go to court, and absolutely nothing happens," adds Browder, "I was feeling so much pain, and it was all balling in my head, and I just had to grab my head and I can't take it."

He missed his sister's wedding, the birth of his nephew, and so many family events. In January, Browder says he was offered a plea deal after 33 Months in jail, which he refused.

"The judge was trying to give me time served, and she is telling me if I am not taking it and I lose at trial I can get 15 years," notes Browder.

Browder went back to jail, and in June, he was freed with no explanation.

"They just dismissed the case and they think it's all right. No apology, no nothing," he says, "they just say 'case dismissed, don't worry about nothing'. What do you mean, don't worry about nothing? You just took 3 years of my life."

Browder is now trying to make up for those three years of high school that he lost by taking courses to get his GED. "I didn't get to go to prom or graduation. Nothing," Browder says, "those are the main years. They are the main years. And I am never going to get those years back. Never. Never."

Browder is trying to move forward. He expects to get his GED by the end of the year, and is desperately trying to find a job.

Americans Killed by Cops Now Outnumber Americans Killed in Iraq War | Filming Cops

Cops have killed well over 5,000 Americans since 9/11. Many of these killings have occurred during no-knock raids, which have risen by 4000%.

Iraqi insurgents have killed around 3,500 Americans in Iraq since 9/11 in Operation Iraqi “Freedom.”

Afghan insurgents have killed around 2,000 Americans in Afghanistan since 9/11 in Operation Enduring “Freedom.”

The police getting paid to go on shooting sprees are killing more of us than the terrorists from whom they “protect” us. In fact, you are eight times more likely to be killed by a cop than by a terrorist.

Today on campus: Hippies learn about statism and will blame conservatives.

Several times over the past couple weeks UTC has allowed and endorsed a fire and brimstone preaching fanatical woman to come and scream hate and damnation at its students. They provided her a huge coned in circle with security and police to judge their students. Before any amount of a crowd had gathered this unknown student rode his bike past the barrier unknowing the swift consequences that would follow. Not captured on the video was him nearly being tackled off of his bike. He then became angry considering he is a paying student who BELONGS on this campus and the police found this reason enough to tackle him an arrest him for resisting arrest without calmly asking him to put his hand behind his bak. Security and police instigated the escalation and this student was arrested. UTC continues to provide shelter for this woman whom the student body has made very clear that she is unwelcome. Poor guy may be expelled an charged with God only knows what for merely trying to go to his next class and expressing anger when he was wrongfully accosted.

Imagine getting pulled over while on a family vacation and having small-town cops accuse you and your family of being drug couriers. Then imagine hearing that you have two options: Fork over your cash and continue on your vacation or face felony charges for money laundering and child endangerment, in which case you go to jail and your kids get handed over to foster care. That’s what happened to Ron Henderson and Jennifer Boatright while traveling through Tenaha, Texas, a town that regards piracy as just another way to raise revenue.

Henderson and Boatright’s case helped launch a class action lawsuit against abusive civil forfeiture laws, laws which allow law enforcement to to shake down people and cash in. And don’t be fooled by officers tooling around town in Escalades seized from hotshot drug dealers--law enforcement often targets those who cannot afford to hire an attorney to fight for the return of their property.

Officers may swipe your property even if you’re not charged with a crime. Cops can drive the cars they grab, and seized cash has even been funneled to officers’ salaries. Booty is often a large source of law enforcement funding, and last year the Department of Justice pulled in a record $4.2 billion from civil forfeitures.

Pine Valley, CA, Old Highway 80 - Here I am at yet another intrusive Border Patrol checkpoint no where near the actual border. I refused to answer the agents question and refused to pull into secondary, explaining that I was simply traveling down a public road while minding my own business and not doing anything wrong. Border Patrol agents, on the other hand seem to have a difficult time minding their own business.

UPDATE: Since I was driving my company vehicle, the agents took down the number displayed in its side and called my employer to complain that I was "rude" to them. But their childish and unprofessional behavior was so apparent to my boss that he just hung up on their call. What a joke! I'm making a complaint with the San Diego Border Patrol office.

Exclusive: Grosse Pointe cops film, humiliate black people - Motor City Muckraker

Grosse Pointe Park police officers are capturing humiliating photos and videos of black men and texting them to friends and family, the Motor City Muckraker has found.

One of the main culprits is Officer Mike Najm, who texted a picture of a black man in the back of a trailer and typed, “Gotta love the coloreds.” In one video, Najm can be heard telling a mentally ill black man to sing.

Most of the videos are shot from squad cars while African American men are told to sing or “dance like a chimp.” Some of the subjects are even in the back of police cars.

SIOUX CITY -- The Police Department is denying any wrongdoing in the way officers treated a woman captured on camera being forcefully arrested this summer. The woman, who said she received a black eye and bruises during the scuffle, alleges she was mistreated and is considering suing police.

The footage, which began circulating online last week, shows Dacosta Daniels, 34, of Sioux City, being arrested during an Aug. 8 traffic stop in the 1400 block of McDonald Street. The scene was captured by a Sioux City Police Department car dashboard camera.

The video shows two officers shoving Daniels onto the patrol car's hood to make the arrest. She appears to struggle as police handcuff her. At one point, she is punched in the side and put in a headlock before being handcuffed, the video shows.

Sioux City Police Department spokesman Jeremy McClure said he would not elaborate about the arrest. Court records show Daniels was being arrested for assault of a peace officer, a serious misdemeanor. She is accused of punching police Officer Joshua Tyler before the arrest, records show.

McClure declined to talk in detail about the video. He said the department plans to post a longer version of the video on its Facebook profile Wednesday morning. It will include a narration explaining what happened, he said.

"It'll explain what the situation is, or what's going on," McClure said. "Basically, explaining what the officer is doing."

McClure said the incident was the subject of an internal investigation. It found that officers followed department rules in the arrest, he said.

Daniels' fiancé, Chris Robinson, said the video is from police dash cam footage obtained as evidence in the criminal case against Daniels. They provided the video to the Journal on Tuesday.

Court documents say the incident happened after police stopped Robinson and found that he was barred from driving. The car, with New Jersey plates, was a rental vehicle. Daniels was a passenger.

During the stop, Tyler asked Daniels what her name was and she answered with a profanity, the documents said. The officer then asked if she had identification, and she again swore at the officer, according to records. Daniels then attempted to make a cell phone call and the officer told her to hang up, which escalated into a scuffle, the documents allege.

The incident left Daniels with a blackened right eye and severe bruising over her body, she said. She sought medical attention and took photos of the marks, as did police, she said. Police would not comment on her injuries.

Daniels said she is pursuing a civil case against police and plans to hire an attorney soon. She said she didn't want to talk about specifics in the case.

After videotaping the police taser him in his own home, a Lake County, Illinois man is prevented from testifying in his own defense for fear of being prosecuted under the Illinois Wiretapping Law. Using the actual video of the incident and legal transcripts, Vince and Kitty Testa show how the police machinated charges against their family. This documentary explores the relationships among Lake County law enforcement and the Courts, examines the growing use of tasers, challenges the concept of Contempt of Cop, and exposes the Civil Rights implications of the Illinois Wiretapping Law.

A dash-cam video from an April, 2012 traffic stop has surfaced in which one Baton Rouge police officer pulls over a fellow cop, leading to a heated exchange on the roadside.

The Baton Rouge Advocate obtained the video through a public records request of the department. In the video, off-duty BRPD officer David Stewart pulls over a swerving white pickup truck that he says was doing more than twice the 45 mph speed limit.

The stop happened on Juban Road in Livingston Parish. According to the Advocate report, Stewart said he pulled the vehicle over and contacted the Livingston Parish Sheriff's department because he thought the driver may be impaired or having a "road rage" fit.

However, after the driver, Cpl. Brian Harrison, identified himself as a Baton Rouge police officer, the dash-mounted camera in Stewart's vehicle then captured a heated 4-minute exchange between the two men.

Near the end of the video, Stewart contacts Livingston authorities again on his radio to cancel the call for assistance and allows Harrison to leave. Harrison is seen on the video "flipping the bird" at Stewart before getting in his truck and driving off.

Police officials contacted by the Advocate said both officers had been "counseled" about the incident. Neither officer was disciplined over the matter.

During the exchange between the two, Stewart shouted at the other officer that his children drive on Juban Road.

"I don't care," Harrison is heard replying on the video.

SF Mission Residents Angered By City College Student

D’Paris Charles “DJ” Williams, 20, was arrested after apparently riding his bicycle on the sidewalk around 3:40 p.m. Friday at the complex near Rosa Parks Lane and Maxwell Court.

The home video begins with DJ Williams face down on the sidewalk as officers and a crowd of onlookers circles. Williams can be heard crying out in pain.

When word spread in the neighboring apartment complex, residents rushed out to help Williams. That’s when things went from bad to worse. The arrest spurred an altercation between other people at the complex and prompted three more arrests, police said.

However, a friend of Williams, local photographer Travis Jensen, talked to people at the complex and said their stories, as well as a cellphone video taken at the scene and posted on YouTube, show that the incident was a case of police brutality.

“Clearly something not right is happening here,” Jensen said.

He said Williams was simply riding his bike on the sidewalk up to his residence in the complex when he was approached by undercover officers who said something about riding on the sidewalk, then grabbed him from behind and beat him for no apparent reason.

Jensen said witnesses at the scene said Williams suffered a broken jaw and other injuries when he was attacked by police.

He said when others joined in, it was out of concern for Williams.

...

A hostile crowd then gathered around the officers, two of whom suffered injuries in the scrum. One person tried to hit an officer with a cane while another bit an officer, according to Shyy.

A total of four people, including Williams, were arrested, Shyy said. Williams and another person were arrested for felonies, one was arrested for a misdemeanor and the fourth was cited and released.

Williams was booked into custody on suspicion of assault and battery on an officer, felony resisting arrest, a traffic code violation and an outstanding local warrant, Shyy said.

The video showed the 21-year-old handcuffed and sent to jail with his earbuds still hanging from his neck, his face a bloody mess.

It was not clear if Williams ever heard demands from police.

Williams is expected to be released from jail late Monday night. His family told KPIX 5 they plan to file a complaint against the department and hold a rally in the Mission District around 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

Basically one of our friends called us and told us a police officer was at the bottom of our street with a K-9 so my brother went to the edge of our driveway to look at what was going on. We live in a quiet neighborhood so its kind of unusual for them to be around. One of the officers followed us onto our property and then started asking questions and told us that a house across the street had been burglarized... we declined to give him identification (by law we don't have to supply ID, not only that but we didnt have our ID on us) then we asked which house was burglarized and he pointed to our aunts house... so he went over to see if she would 'vouch' for us. i walked across the street to her house to make sure she was ok and as soon as we went to check on our aunt I started filming... so yeah. Basically being at our own house, not doing shit still gets us treated like shit. Turns out our aunts house wasn't even the one burglarized....
