How R you keeping the heat out of cabin?
I have the same issue and friends will ask I have the heat on in the summer until they notice it's not on. Even with the top down, and a muggy day somewhat, that heat will get to you and it'll annoy me till..........forever. I have my manifold and downpipe wrapped. I opted out of the turbo blanket for same reasons listed above. I am all for fabbing a complete heat shield one day but I think just drawing more air into the bay would help tremendously. That heat has to go somewhere no matter how you cover it. In for some real results
At one point I considered running a heavily insulated flex hose from the nose to a hole somewhere in the floor but felt that it would pick up heat regardless.
There are aircraft like vents that rotate to direct air. They come as part of the small triangular windows on the doors.
I hope to be able to better plan my approach tomorrow. Might even stop be AutoZone to pick up some header wrap or some other stuff.

The stuff in the floor is Koolmat. Still a bit slippery when wet but great in the dry.
The inside of the tunnel has Thermo-Tec adhesive backed barrier. Image here. Header and exhaust are wrapped to rear axle with DEI 2" header wrap. Car has almost no radiant heat inside. Putting a ton of thermal barriers on the cockpit side of the tunnel is a waste of time. Exhaust will heat all the sheet metal from the firewall to the rear bulkhead to 180° and radiate buckets of heat even if the little heel protector mat is saving your right foot. Keep the tub from getting hot in the first place and you don't need to go crazy in the interior.

I'll let you know how mine fairs. I only drive my car in the warmer months though so it won't be effected by snow and salt. It does seem a little less flexible than it was when I installed it but it's not like I am handling it at all.
I just bit the bullet and ordered a 100" x 2" roll of header wrap for the DP.
Nearly ordered the Flying Miata GRedy turbo heat shield but it really does not seem to fit my Racing Mazda dp.
Put my hand to the metal that makes up the box directly behind the firewall and it was HOT.
On the bright side - anything I do is going to make things better.
