But who cares about et, I'm more curious about what your trap speed will be.

All I care about is the trap too. Most 15' GT time slips are around
87mph 1/8
112mph 1/4

Looks like I'm making the drive in 2 weeks to see what I can actually do....

18psi 05-01-2016 12:06 AM

Nice. can't wait.
Yeah they usually trap 111-113

This is my highest trap slip, 8.5 ET slip is somewhere else in the land of when my NT01's were fresh, lol. (Traction at this non-NHRA regulated track is worse than a standard asphalt street anyways) 18psi, was your 105mph pass still with the stock MSM rev limiter and do you think you would have run faster with a few hundred RPM more to spin? (Especially with 6-speed gearing...)

Yep, 6500. don't think so, the tiny ihi was running out of breath by 6500 and I was using flat-foot-shift so the gear changes produced a very healthy jump in acceleration anyway.
5 speed would have definitely been better, but then it likely woulda broke too.
I launched it in 2nd gear using MS3-pro LC and feeding in boost/timing after launch (pretty cool feature for drag racing).
*disclaimer: my runs were nothing spectacular either, others can do better. I'm just sharing experience for you to compare.
I've seen others trap around 110-112 with 300whp pretty regularly, that seems to be around the norm on miata's.

I do believe you should hit a 108 trap

In for ventilated block or glory. Either will make me happy.

Honestly, me too. :dealwithit: Hoping for glory though. SFI 3.2A/1 jacket is on the way to my doorstep.

Don't you mean quarters and JB Weld?

Can someone explain this joke ^

Not sure where it originated, but its a long running joke about how to be cheap and increase compression

That's hilarious. Thanks for the reference links. Brain, actually not a bad idea; as my compression gets lower and lower I'll need a way to compensate :D

The first link you posted is where JoeP started it. He ended making an "article" that Braineack used to host to show proof. I am not sure if the article is still floating around anywhere.

yeah. lol, it's an old reference.

Building high compression pistons - MX-5 Miata Forum

on page two, we went as far as finding an "old article" from Autocar where someone successfully did it...

just add timing and ethanol.

aidandj 05-04-2016 09:16 AM

Legendary. Now that you mention it I've seen that somewhere.

Already on E85 and timing turned up until it wouldn't make any more power. [cries] But that's okay I just bought something REALLY stupid for my car and I can't wait to try it out.

Did you buy 4 half dollar coins?

I think dimes would be better. You could get them on the piston without pulling the head.

Bond 05-04-2016 12:25 PM

I come in here and see quarters JB welded to piston talk, and I feel like I never left.

OP, Great video. LOL

Literally laughed out loud when I visualized this. :2cents::2cents::2cents::2cents:

Do a live stream of D-Day.

Are you going to sacramento raceway?

If so Vlad needs to be in the video :giggle:
