Yeah all the models for it are either overly simple, or stupidly complex. And we're going so fast for most of these runs that drag will be the dominate opposing force.

Seriously, almost identical. Probably would see more difference on a 4th gear pull. I don't do those on the street either.

 

ummm ... 1.2 sounds a bit high to match a dyno ... thats a 20% elevation in the graph.

 

What weight do the program default for a miata? Weights can easily vary on these cars by a quarter of a ton between something like a CSP car in the 1900lb range to hustlers car when it was turbo in the 2400lb range.

You can set custom weights for all.

 

Hi!

I just downloaded the software.
When I drag my log into the program screen I get an error message.
It asks if I want to contact the developer.
Also something that it must be a log tracking TPS,Time and something else.
I'm using the free version of MLV

Any advive ?

Yes, I do.
I went to the log and clicked on the 3 things that they say I need. Maybe I needed to save it as a separate log and then try importing that ?

 

Convert the log to a .csv if it's not already in that format. To be sure there is no other data getting in the way, trim everything out except rpm, time (in seconds), and tps (make sure it's reading properly). That's how I got my logfiles to work before he recently updated the program.

Well, maybe. I can export files from my logger in that format, but it's not the native format. I think I had been able to change the extension on another filetype (one that MegaLogViewer used IIRC) and have it work correctly.

Edit: yep, it was an msl file. All I did was change the extension, then I could open it in Excel and trim out what wasn't needed.

Now, the log was captured during slow, fast driving etc. What does the program plot in a case like this - peak power ?

 

I support MSL files so you can export in that format too.

I tried to load the file you sent me or someone sent and it wont load ... it may be a new log format or an old format that I havent seen.

 

Theoretically, it will look for only those areas where you are WOT (Brad stated somewhere in this thread what the percentage threshold is). But if you have multiple WOT sections of the log it may get confused. As part of the trimming, I'd crop the log down to a specific WOT event, where you start around 2K rpm and end at redline.

if you log correctly you dont have to trim your log as VD will do it for you.

 

Ok I got it to work

I updated to the newest version of MLV and made sure I had the fields that VD needs (Time, VTPS etc..)

My log only goes to about 100KPA and 6500 RPM so power is around 125 HP

Does that sound right ?

BTW My vehicle was recently weighed at a truck scale so I was able to plug that in...

 

If you are non-turbo. 100Kpa is aprox atmospheric pressure.
