Wow. Really getting there.

There's another which springs to mind (no just because I bought a new fuel pump like ten minutes ago).... The fuel pump connector! :-) But, no one has pictures of it unless they have a pulled harness.

Sven, is there anything you can think of I can do to help you find the remaining major plugs? We've almost got the full list and I'd like to see it happen. I really am going to pull all the wires out of the car any minute now...

Hi Abe, work and a little Miata side project have kept me quite busy lately...

Let's see what we are missing:

(We need pictures of that!)
- VSS
- Neutral switch
- Reverse switch
- Clutch switch
- Purge solenoid
- Alternator control
- AC control
- Master cylinder
- Dash plugs
- Fan (I have that - will take pictures)

I suspect some of the are standard spade connectors 6.3mm
I know that the Oil pressure sender is such a connector and have added this to the spreadsheet.

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1362466260

@Leafy - about the IAC and VICS connectors - did you actually try the

IAC:
AMP 184000-1 or did you use the K2BS from Corsa technic? - (because they are different)

VICS:
SUMITOMO 62 sealed series 090(2.3mm) [6098-0135] or did you use the 2P040WP-HX-F? - (again they are different)

Leafy 03-05-2013 07:23 AM

I used the HX for the VICS because it was the best lead we had at the time. And I misread easternbeaver and thought their AMP stuff was the same as the right one but it was from the eco line or something.

Zaphod 03-05-2013 08:20 AM

O.K. so I can add the removed stuff to the spreadsheet again... :giggle:

Leafy 03-05-2013 08:22 AM

I thought i only removed the VICS stuff, which I added in the first place.

Again a totally different type:

Me again... I did a wee bit of work on the spreadsheet (go figure):

- added a column with connector series names (and filled it)
- added some vendor links (though it seems that most of the connectors are to be found at the Newunitedracetech site)

I am at loss for the Clutch switch connector... have to get some better pictures....

Added some interior connectors to the spreadsheet

Ok, uploading, as we speak, more images. Some duplicates. :-(

I got the sensor side of the nuetral switch (I think, not sure which is reverse and which is neutral) - I'll get the harness side next time my car goes up. The plug is the same for the power window motor. :-) And Link used it on their piggyback computer set up at some point.

Couldn't find either the AC or the alternator, which sucks since I thought I had some out.

The clutch switch looks to be very similar to one of the two brake switches (there's one that is a top-of-travel and one that is heavier... I think for turning off cruise control or something?)

I also got a picture of the relay, I think for the fans. Come to think of it, you're more likely to change the signal going to the relay than you are to change the wire from relay to fan.

The secondary (AC?) fan motor has, of course, a different connector, so I got a pic of that one as well.

Lastly, there's the square connector that goes to the coil harness, got both sides of it. It's only four pins (power, ground, coil A coil B I assume).

Lastly, a pic of the oil pressure sender, which, as you said, seems to just be a standard spade connector (as are the pins on all the transmission stuff).

Will edit in pictures later when they upload, or else find them on the last pages here:

You are a monster. :-)

Ok, got another pic while putting in a noisy fuel pump to replace the perfectly find OEM one. Heh.

As usual, more pics on my webpage.

Of the three, the grey one doesn't seem to have a protrusion to it? The Sumitomo you show the center sticks out past the end of the connector? Another angle:
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1362861814 though that doesn't show the placement as well as the pic you already posted.

Really had trouble with the metering on that clutch switch

And of course, lastly, the fan motor (again, probably not as important as the relays, why change good wiring?).

That's the relay plug, I forget if it's for the headlights or the fans, but if people are rewiring in an aftermarket ECU, that's the pins they will care about.

Worth checking out?!

Leafy 03-09-2013 11:26 PM

Added another source for the iac connector. I'm seeing if he can source the vics connector since new united doesnt have them and neither does eastern beaver. Ballenger says they have them on their sumitomo list but I cant find it in their store.

Zaphod 03-10-2013 01:24 AM

@Abe - about the protrusion - that is just a matter of the catalouge picture - because the center part is separate and can be removed. All (or most) of the Sumitomo pictures do look like this.

The fuel pump one is also a Sumitomo SL sealed series.

Anyone that finds the part numbers for the big blocky connectors gets a free Catfish t-shirt. :)

16 pin Tyco? Sumitomo? I dunno, but they are the main connectors between the engine, main, dash and PPF harnesses.

BTW, I have pictures and descriptions of every connector on a 1999 harness, but no part numbers. I'd be happy to upload or send them to whomever is building a list.

Zaphod 03-10-2013 05:26 AM

@Cordycord - please post pics from the back - (and maybe all sides of the connectors)

Unfortunately I only have reference pictures, and all are wired on the harness--correct pictures from the back of the plug may not be of use because the wires obstruct the view.

However, if you're looking at a plug and wonder what it does, I've got that covered. ;)

AbeFM 03-10-2013 03:54 PM

Cordy,
Perhaps when I do my rewire, I'll come across some of those plugs and can get more pics for Sven.

If you have more pics I can give you a place to upload them - the issue is then going through an entering in the descriptions one at a time...

AbeFM 03-10-2013 03:56 PM

Sven,
So, we know enough about most of these to know the series? I'm getting my wire sometime next week, and want to just amass a list of pin types so I can repin everything. Then I don't actually need to purchase connectors since, aside from the fan connector, they are all in great shape.
