My quest of running Ford GT500 EV14s

Shouldnt matter how much fuel you're spraying at the wall. The fuel will be condensing on the wall anyways (at low flow) or not being swept away before it even makes it to the wall (high flow).

I picked up a set of bosch ev14 injectors from a ford econoline van. They are super cheap on ebay (got my set for $40 for all 4)

The only thing with them is that they are the ev14L. They are a tad long for the Miata with a stock rail and intake manifold.


I am going to be building my own intake manifold so I can get mine to work, but it might be a case of adding a custom spacer and a longer bolt to these to get them to work in our cars. 99-05 might have an issue with the length though because the injector boss is casted in the head.

Have you tried comparing/fitting them? To my understanding they are 12mm longer than the standard, which requires a 12mm spacer to run in the stock mani/rail. So my theory is that those should be the right length.

I think I'd rather be spraying most of the fuel at the intake ports as opposed to just spraying it where ever.

Another super cheap EV14 would be from the Pentastar V6. You could probably find these in a junk yard for near free. They are the short version, so I don't know how well they would fit, obviously some sort of spacer or adapter would be needed.

I think they are somewhere around 300cc so they would only really be an option for N/A guys, but it would be a good cheap option. Even relatively low hp N/A guys should see some benefit going from stock injectors to EV14. I know on other N/A cars we saw significant benefit using EV14s.

Serious question: rather than trying to find all these hats and adapters for the injectors to change the length of the body, why not fire up the lathe and make different heights of spacers for the stock rail? A rail spacer seems like it would be far far easier to make and any jack off with a lathe and basic tools could probably make one. Hell, make them out of plastic like Mazda did and you could cut them on a wood lathe.

This of course assumes the injector pockets are already the correct dimensions in the rail and the head. I haven't looked that far into the drawings yet. Am I missing something here?

the rail doesn't need to be spaced, it needs to sit lower to the manifold as injectors are short. Even with stock spacers removed, still too high to seal. Need a custom rail, or at least mounts. The top hat spacers to me are a simple solution as it requires no fab

Ahh, gotcha. I guess I was thinking about the EV14L. Still might be an option?

I almost want to go find a set of 250-300cc EV14's and see if the stock ECU freaks out or not. I'm all for trying and logging with my wideband if I can find the injectors for under $100. I wouldn't expect much of a power bump, but I could see better efficiency with better atomization.

I guess the 60 mm ones can be made to fit if you machine the collar to 10mm diameter down to the retaining clip groove.



I reuse the blue and green o rings that come with the ford injectors and add a new rail seal O ring. (7 mm inside diameter x 2.25mm thick)
I haven't got around to flow resting and fitting the GT 500 injectors yet but i am hopeful that they could also be made to fit in a similar way without spacers.

Those econoline injectors probably end up being 750 cc's if you remove the atomizing / vectoring cover plate.

Matt this shows the diameter I am talking about. The rail side of that injector started out as 14mm like the stock ev14 one on the RHS.
I put it in a lathe and reduced the diameter to 10.4mm down to the depth of the retaining clip groove.

The NC has EV14s, I don't think they should be larger than 350cc.

The 2008-2011 Ford Focus has 200cc ev14 injectors. not sure on the length.
