I'm not the op, but that's the place. He did my ms tuning, and I think I'm going to have him build me a shorty for my 2560 and a 1.8. I'm not going to vband, but a 10mil through bolted flange. Everything there looks like the pics the op presented. I will post full pics when I build, but it won't be until December.

Thank you...glad to find a shop some what local that has some tuning and fab skillz...speaking of tuning, how proficient were they with ms. On their site they didn't mention it as a platform they use...I'll be waiting for pictures of your build!
Morgan is proficient at megasquirt tuning. FYI, I brought my netbook that was already set up to communicate with the ms. I'm sure he has a laptop, but I thought bringing mine made things easier. He gave me the conservative tune that I asked for, it's a little fat up top, as per my tune thread in the dyno section. |

intake mani is finish mounted, throttle cable is done. throttle body is mounted and all set. injectors and rail are installed. im running new arp studs and nuts on the intake side and new arp nuts on the ex. only thing im iffy about is the seating of the injectors. i think they are taller than the stock ones in some way, because they feel like they are all the way in. but i cant get the rail to sit all the way down on the mounts. its like an 1/8" up. but the bolts snug up. we'll see if it leaks when i put fuel to it.

Lol.. Rushing always is a recipe for a blowed motor. |

This engine is almost exactly what I want to be able to do one day. One day being when I own not just one Miata that is my daily driver, and when I have a decent place to work on a car for extended periods, and when I can afford all of this shit you are throwing at it! I'm doing well just to be able to replace a part here and a part there. One day I will have a car this awesome though. It may take as long or longer than you, and it may sit in my future garage being pieced together as I can afford it, but having something like this for a fun project car would be awesome indeed. All of the fun is taken out of the process when its a rush to get it back on the road because you don't have anything else decent to drive. |
Just amazing can't wait to see you on the road.

all thats left for the fuel system is i need to install my walbro pump and buy a new fuel filter and a pressure gage to go on the reg. i also got the vaccum line for the brake booster done Attachment 202464 Attachment 202465 Attachment 202466 Attachment 202467 next up.... boundry engineering COP'S |
This car is just insane. Good job man, you are doing great.

Those lines look awesome, but...
How did you manage this? Attachment 202463 Hardline to AN fitting? The only way i've seen it done is flare + tube nut |

i work part time for a race machine shop in CT, we build alot and alot of domestic V8 drag engines. so i get alot of exposure to that scene. not that i like the engines at all, i will always a import guy. but there are alot of american companys that make high quality parts that can be used on our cars. the fittings, it was just a matter of finding what i need.
|
Was wondering where you got the ARP intake manifold bolts from? Sick build BTW!!!
|
ARP 400-8024 is what i used, they are a 50mm (2 inch) long 8x1.25 stainless accessory stud. they have some shorter ones 400-8023 that are 1.75" long. i need the longer ones for my manifold cause it has a thicker flange than stock
|
|
lol this is all im hearing, the alt is fine.... it works
|
I like the hardline adapter. I want to do one of those for my oil return eventually.
|
I'll do that for my fuel line eventually, they're a bitch to get on and off, even with a little oil rubbed on the hardline for lube.

Holy crap this is a nice build! Wow... Anyone that looks under that hood will know this car means business. I love the rad and IC mount, and the ultra-short IC ducts.
+1 on no turbo blanket. As nice as the rest of the fabrication is, a custom sheet metal stainless heat shield would be much sweeter, and less likely to cook the turbine bits. Maybe I missed something later in the thread, but your tie rod end (Heim joint) looks like it is binding at full droop. The shim washers look like they are hitting or very close to hitting the ball socket. That is bad, really bad IMO. I do like the rod end thread adapter piece. Did you make it or buy it? |

Maybe he should retire. Next time I won't pass it up and will take a shot myself.

OK no worries then. If you checked it at full droop, and you can still rotate the Heim joint a bit, then it is OK.
|
yeah i jacked the car up and then jacked the suspention through the range and could wiggle them at all point. i should take a pic with the new spacers
|
Yeah please do. I would like to see it as I am doing this myself right now. Did you adjust the shims to remove bumpsteer?
|
well i made them with a stack of spacers to ajust for bump steer. i havent done anything with them yet though. i have a suspention guy who does my alighnments. ill talk it over with him. right now my focus is getting the engine running
|
btw i'm just curious, what size tube did u use? 1.25 od .125 wall?
|
as far as what ??
the original cage was 1.75 o.d .095 wall (main hoop+ rear section, front down bars) all the new work is 1.5 o.d .095 wall( it might be .125 i cant rember its been a while) the include(door bars, dash bar, front end hoop) |

seriously 7 hours? i would have been done with it in about an hour and a half, two hours tops with a polished finish :P.

Pretty slick, That would take forever to make if you had to do small cuts (like you have to do with a crappy lathe/ crappy tooling)
I cnat wait to see how its gonna be installed in the car |
That is 6 min.Cnc Job,7 hrs manual is a bit long.I really want to see how this looks when done.I have something like That too.

i want!
|
The AN fitting is pretty slick, was that the reason for making it from scratch? Otherwise this would have saved you a lot of time,
M-Tuned In Line Thermostat Housing with T-Stat M-Tuned What's the ID on it anyway? |
yeah, i was cutting at .05 a pass. my boss doesnt want me cranking the rpms, so i have to turn at a slow feed rate. and the chuck jaws are shit, he machined ten diff diameters into them, so i was only grabing on like a 1/2" i didnt want to push it, and i didnt want to put in a live center. once i got it in the bridgeport it went pretty good. i didnt have a 2 flute ball endmill of the right dia, so i had to use 4 flute, so that took a little longer. the pics dont do it justice. it looks really really nice. the mtuned thing isnt what i want. i have a vmount so i am gonna be putting in a fill, so that its the highest point in the cooling system. no one makes one to my liking so im making my own. if i had a cnc this thing woulda been done in an hour or so.
|
also its -16an, thats like .875 or something ID
|
From what I have seen so far, you know what the fuck you are doing.
