amazing build
I don't have anything new to add really. But daaaaaaammmmnn...
I know it was a while back but I've got some questions about your intake manifold. The velocity stacks, are they off the shelf (if so where did you get em?) or made in your shop on a lathe? If they were cnc'd by you, I'd love a file if you're willing to share, same goes for the manifold mounting plate. |
yeah hustler why do you say that? cause its not perfect equal lenghth?
as for the stacks, www.velocityofsound.com i belive the flange i made, just double sided taped my hondata gasket to a the blank of metal and pick up and saved the hole locations on the ez track. i used dykem and traced the ports and went in and free handed them, then i finished them off and port matched them with a carbide burr |

I'm surprised you didn't gut the stock gauge pod and put your gauges there. Decorating the dash with your gauges seems out of place on this car.

yeah hustler, i agree with you, i should put some bracing in there. i dont think i have to go to the extream of a crane setup, its not that far off the manifold, not as much leverage on the runners as those f1 pics. but i think a sold machined brace from the turbo flange to the head should help.
as for the cluster. i kept in stock for wiring simplicity, and to have a refernce set of gauges. its always good to be able to back up your aftermarket ones or vice versa. if i was gonna remove the cluster i woulda just put in a aim pista or similar. this works for now. and i got eyeball vents on the from ebay already |

I was also curious about the thickness of the piping for the manifold.. |

I would probably do some fancy bracing just for the sake of over-engineering, but itll probably be okay without it. |

I went to your link at first and figured you were fucking with me cause you didn't want me making a manifold like yours. Not that I can rule that out at this point :o |
Interesting site ,Profiles seem far from optimised, fluidly speaking.

OMG, this is out of this world, take your time and keep the photos coming.
On many of the pictures I have to really see to figure out how things go and why, very good attention to detail. |
So I couldn't get my comp to connect to megasquirt, then it got a crap vista antivirus 2010. Virus. So I put in the stock ecu. Cranked it and I got a split moment of noise. It fired very breifly on 880cc's and no maf. Atleast I confirmed my wiring is good and I got fuel and spark. Now to get that ms working
|
Maybe I am suggesting something you already know, but it seems like you could get close enough to get it running by loading a base map and scaling the fuel table (and corrections) for the injectors.
|
Well my problem was I couldn't get my laptop to connect. I'm using diy's usb to serial converter and a vista powered gateway.

Might be the USB > Serial cable. I've always had problems connecting with those involved in my EMS experience.

I use one from newegg with no problems. My DIY one always gave me shit. I am also available to help you with MS one weekend if u need it.
|
USB to serial fails on Vista/7
I tried and tried to get my USB to serial adpater to work on both Vista and 7, tried it on my old laptop running XP and it worked immediatly. I finally found a use for that laptop, the worlds biggest wideband gauge, haha |
I'm runnin vista and dont have issues....XP would still probably be better though.
|
Thanks for the offers guys. Let me see how I make out this weekend. If I still have issues ill have one of you help me

Yeah I will be using tuner studio
|
I got my old xp powered laptop to fire up. And me new cable should be in today. So I'm hoping that fri i@can't give it another shot and it connects. Also I called summit to bitch about there junk an fittings and they sent me a earl's replacement for free :-)
|
What happened with Summit's AN fittings? I have a buddy who built a rock-crawling rig that swears by them...

So far iv had two -6 straight hose end leak from the swivel joint between the flare end and the hose end
|
Weak... Good luck with the new fittings.

Where did you order them from so one knows to avoid? |
still want a hand this weekend? Im free saturday any time. Text me?
|
since they are summit hose ends, summit racing.
I have had decent luck with my summit ends, although the earls ones are a much better quality, followed by russell. |
My buddy didn't have any problems with the Summit ones either... He has QUITE a few in his rig. Sure there are always bad apples in every tree every once in awhile...
|
Yeahi have a ton of them on my car. The only ones iv put pressure to are the fuel lines. None of the 90's leaked. Only two straights. Its a mfg defect. Its leaking at the swivel joint that is assembled by them
|
Parallax has a serial port I swear by - we do lots and lots of goofy hardware at my work, and we order them by the 20 pack.

swaped out the summit fitting for the earls and no more leaks. 240tomiata is coming over today to try and help me get the MS working. If this doesn't work I have to send it back to braineack and have him look it over.
|
IT RUNS!!!!!! still got some bugs to work out and got some tunning to do and a bunch of odds and ends but here you go..... enjoy!! |
yay for running 800cc injectors.
|
What turbo you running, and how much power you intend to make?
|
i still need alot of tunning. when i try to rev it it falls on its face. and it was running pig rich. i ajusted the ve table a little to get the a/f up in the 12's it was in the 10's. i gotta set my timing still and correct some other issues. this was just a teaser. motor might have 5 min run time at this point.
|
shoulda read the thread, i know its alot. GT3071R. 400whp i hope.
|
Awsome!!
