Well, I say that once you've purchased a doo-dad, and used it to water a small part of the surface of Earth which you own, you are officially a suburbanite.
I know this is mundane stuff to y'all who have always lived in a house, but for me, this is radical new ground. Like, "I'm responsible for making this piece of soil produce pretty green stuff, and will be judged by my neighbors with whom I enjoy sharing beer, if I do not."

If you lived in California you'd be shamed (at minimum) for watering during the daytime as well as watering the sidewalk. People get mad when you use a resource that California habitually keeps in short supply so we can be made to spend more on conservation products.

Different ballgame here. Endless supply of water from Lake Michigan, and they don't even have water meters on most houses.
