Looking out my apartment window, saw a guy snowboarding down 1st Ave:

And also this guy on a bike, who is hardcore:

Did they put the windshield wipers like that up on purpose for some reason?

It doesn't snow where I live so I have no clue.

Yeah, during the day the snow melts and collects on the wipers, then it freezes up solid. Stuff takes forever to get off.

It prevents them from being frozen to the windshield. Once you clear and deice it you drop the blades and use as normal. Or so I've been told.

<- Lives in California so I only encounter this white bullshit by choice.

Was wearing shorts on this blue sunny day in southern CA. I'd actually love to get a break from this sunny weather and have it feel more like winter rather than spring all the time.

Yes. Frozen wipers can rip if you try to turn them on before freeing them from the windshield. Sucks to have no wiper during a snowstorm and you gotta be to work in 15 minutes.

Using Rain-X or similar products can alleviate this. I've actually had good results with plain old paste wax, too. But you need to buff the hell out of the windshield to prevent streaking.

Two lunatics being pulled by a Jeep on snowboards and skis through the middle of NYC, including Times Square:

Edit: note what the cop says at the very end: "Someone's complaining about you, so we're just gonna act like we're talking to you, ok?"

NYPD are awesome. (Take note, Brainey.)

Recently, I was in a supermarket. And I noticed that, on the shelf, they had "Organic" catsup.

I looked at the ingredients, and saw that it contained salt.

Now, it's been a few years since high school chemistry, but I'm pretty sure that sodium chloride is, by definition, an inorganic compound.

Organic means nothing. Society has destroyed the word. Heroin is organic.

To be fair, the times I've been to Manhattan, the locals don't pay attention to these things anyway.

If there is time to get across the street before the next bike/cab/car comes, they walk.

Then I get pissed in other cities when people won't go across the street because of the little orange man even though it's perfectly safe to do so.

All of this is true.

In particular, I was dumbfounded when I was in Bremen, Germany, that the locals absolutely WOULD NOT cross the street if the light was red, regardless of whether any traffic was present. Stereotypically German (and, I'll admit that I loved it, overall.)

This was different. You didn't even pause and look, you just walked right onto the street like cars weren't even a thing.

It's all back to normal today, but it was cool while it lasted.

The Germans were so orderly in WWII that their pilots attacked at the same time every day on the eastern front. The Russians quickly learned to hide their trains until they had gone and knew when they would return.
