How do you guys get these good deals at a pawn shop. We hit three of them yesterday. I didn't find one thing that I couldn't get new for 10% more (and some stuff was more expensive than new). I don't get it???

The guys around here are ruthless and lie about everything. It must be different in other parts of the country. I like going to the shops and looking around but I rarely find anything other than shit. When I do find something nice they want way too much for it.

Example: Yesterday I found a Firestorm 18V cordless circular saw and flashlight. They wanted $125 for them (or at least that was what was on the ticket). The same thing including a drill is brand new all over the place for $130. Amazing....

I think it's because people go in there thinking that whatever is for sale is going to be a lot cheaper then new and don't bother checking on the actual new price.

I've had good luck with the "I'll give you $XXX for _____" and show them cash. If they don't take your offer or counter, walk away.

Works in gun stores and gun shows too, especially if they're charging > retail prices. Just wish it worked at Cabelas. Browsed through their used pistola cabinets tonight, found a used Walther PK380 for $360.00. Made me want to tell them I paid $300 cash at a retail mom and pop shop down the street for one brand new...

Well, I ended up getting what would have been ~$825 in merchandise new for $420 like this:

They wouldn't go down more than $20 on the welder despite my endless low-balling, so I told them I'd drop twice that in cash that day in the store if they had a cheap enough used handgun (which they didn't).

They did have a larger caliber rifle with a Bushnell scope in my price range. This was something I've been wanting since I realized I'd never save up for an AR.

I just kept haggling until I figured the deal met two criteria:

1. I was happy with it.

2. Wife wouldn't kill me. :bowrofl:

And then handed them the cash. Overall I talked them down almost $100, and spent half what I would retail. Now I can weld up some plates...and then knock them down from a couple of hundred yards away. This is nice because since selling the bullpup AK I haven't had anything I can target shit with out past 50yds.

Ive done my own reloads since I was real young. Never ever had a problem, done them on every gun Ive ever owned except my 22, its just a little varmint gun.

I like reloading because I can get the loads exactly how I want them.

About the only gun I run alot of rounds through anymore is the shotgun, been doing alot of clay shooting lately, and I tak the .44 to the range every few months.

The rifle only gets shot at the beginning of deer season to sight in or just check it and when I shoot an animal. With very little practice, Im accurate to atleast 400 yards. Never tried to shoot it past that

The funny part about reloading is that I don't think it really saves a ton of money. You by more expensive supplies, and probably shoot twice as much. I like collecting and analyzing data, so it's up my ally.

To be honest with you depending on what bullets you're using it can cost pretty much the same to buy factory loads as reloading if you figure cost per bullet.

There is a twist. I cast my own pistol and some rifle bullets out of lead. Not counting the cost of equipment for reloading (that doesn't count same as you wouldn't count the cost of a welder and other tools for your turbo build) it costs me about $0.04/round for .380acp and $0.06/round for 9mm.

Yes, there is a lot of time invested in it but I enjoy the process and isn't really difficult in the least. My lead is completely free and nearly unlimited, so a prepped case which I collect thousands of and rework, small pistol primers are around 28$/1000 and a 5# bottle of powder is around 50$ last time I bought..



Now if I could only perfect .223/5.56 lead loads in an AR... :makeout:

Some asswipe thought it'd be a good idea to break into my apartment. My roommate woke up to see this dude standing over him and started screaming. Fortunately, for all parties involved, both I and my little friend were ten minutes away at my girl's house. Nothing is missing and the only thing disrupted was our game of Risk. Measures have been made to ensure it won't happen again.

That'd be scary as fuck, did they catch the guy? Is your roommate ok? I guess he'll be getting a little friend too now.

The best part was when the cops asked me if I stay strapped.

Went to a new (to me) rifle range in butt fucking egypt Missouri, roughly 1 hour east of KC. The place was completely deserted, so the three of us shot 'solo' all day. Arrived shortly after 09:00 to a pretty heavy rain storm. Setup our targets downrange and let the fun begin.

Range was 50, 100, 200, and 300 meters. The 300 doesn't *look* like 300 but after walking down and back 4 times... Not a doubt in my mind. :rofl:

Found some steel targets at all the distances which were properly shot to shit. Examined the holes and dents which were all filled with some surface rust so I set them up on the railroad ties and gave them hell with my Mosin Nagant. First plate (blue) didn't go all the way through but the second did. No idea what steel they were made of, likely nothing special and were roughly 1" thick. 190gr steel core "light ball" for the win!

Zero'd my 1960s Glenfield Model 60 with the cheap ass scope at 50 meters, also which I believe was from 1960s. Ran an entire box of 550 rounds through it with almost no malfunctions! Mine has an 18 round magazine and does not hold the bolt open after the last shot which dates it pre-1980 though I can't nail down an exact date. Discovered Winchester "wildcat" .22lr is complete junk and very glad I only had a small 50 round box. 10 of those failed to fire, even after placing them in my AR and smashing the rim into oblivion...

Finally moved my target down to 300 meters. Using a shitty bipod and my HAND to support the rear of the rifle I managed some "not bad" groups. Hit the target 1/2 from center and considering the circumstances I'm surprised I even got it. My eye sight (poor) with a 20x40 scope @ 300 meters with a standard reticle, looks like a blurry orange dot to me.

I had a great day. Beats getting up @ 5am for bridge calls or driving to the office in rush hour traffic any day of the week!! We left the range at 5pm to come home... With my recent back injury and a day like this, I'm going to go die now. :)
