Your right I need to stop screwing around at my desired hp range it doesn't make sense upgrading to the sr20det I will lose spool for a theoretical hp, drivability should come first. Basic rebuild it is 15g
Lol.
I remember when I thought I needed a turbo for that.
OP, the 2554 sized SR20 turbo will spool very quickly, and is more than adequate for your desired power.
I've seen a nice setup make 225 at the wheels.

Its totally muddied at this point my fault. I would like over 200whp the specific number doesn't matter quite as much as the way the quality of the power band.

Calling it an "SR20det turbo" is part of the confusion regarding your turbo, since they came with different turbos. If it's a GT2560R ball-bearing turbo, that turbo is an ideal match for a stock 1.8.
Most SR20s came with a smaller, journal bearing, 2554-sized turbo. This is a fantastic turbo for a stock-block 1.6.
Which one is being offered to you? If it's free, take it. lol

I have a 1.6. I am pretty sure I am gonna do a 19t upgrade on my 15g while its getting rebuilt and stick with the 19t. Im gonna keep the other turbo anyway.
We're not talking about Volvos here.
What's good for the goose may not be good for this particular gander.
Turbofan is right, the 2554 is a very good fit for a 1.6.

Better spool with a bigger compressor wheel....news to me.
Trust me I know, I've spent a lot of time tuning EBC, and writing about tuning EBC. Read around, there is some good stuff.
Blew both my trans and diff at 200-220ish hp. Torque right below 200ft/lbs.

Aidan is something of a destruct-o-matic though, so take his experiences with a grain of salt.
Here's a suggestion, and what I would do in your shoes:
Buy this:
Mitsubishi TD04 HL Turbo Repair Rebuild Kit Isuzu 4BD1T TD04HL 15g 49189 005XX | eBay
Rebuild your turbo
Run it
Take the free turbo to play with later

Experience AND cheap. But FREE trubo is cheaper
