Has the question been asked: how do you safely remove weight while maintaining a sound weight/balance front:rear ratio?

I honestly never understood why 50/50 balance was so important anyway. GT3s seem to be doing pretty well in motorsport since ever. And Evos have weight distribution like a pickup truck.

Removing it from the front would probably be better, as in going to a rearward weight bias, but beyond saying that generally I would not really worry about it save for judging spring weights and shock valving.

 

well it doesn't matter much if your just cruising around. if your actually racing your car in 40min. sprint or longer races, the issue would be that you would have a better handling car at the end of your stint than say a fwd civic or a porsche 911. they would have 2 burnt up tires, either frt. or rear causing handling issues. i'm with the school of thought that says a slight frt. bias, say 52-54% is the easiest to drive.

I really want to copy your wire tuck and lose some weight there. There isn't a whole lot else that I can remove from my car to make it lighter. I've been considering going back to a 1.6 clutch with lightweight flywheel. Once I get new seats that will help a lot too I suppose.

You all need to find people that are built like jockeys to drive your cars. That will help a lot with your weight savings.

The under coating is worth 10lbs, all of the support under the front and rear bumpers is 20lbs or so, ac condensor, windsheild trim, lexan triangles, gut doors, headlight delete, interior trunk panels, lexan hardtop glass, hollow sways, alum lugs, trunk skin and latch delete, alum seat mounted to floor, alum flywheel, seasoned and turned rotors, hustler commented on a brand of springs that were real light. I also heard from some spec miata guys that you can skin the inside of the hardtop. I think my na turd weighed low 1900's with me out of the car. With the front fenders and hardtop off it was 1885?

 

Holy crap... You better be like under 5' or you need to eat a cheeseburger WITH bacon stat! Haha

 

What about parts that weight less. Such as those 949racing control arms. Light weight rims,A lighter brake system. Of course those kind of parts are not cheap but it would help
