When I got my pup I just went to the local shelter and picked him out, he'd been there long enough they about gave him away for free.

60+ lbs dogs make renting tedious, in case you didn't know already.

 

Yep, current house doesn't allow pets, but well find out in a week whether we get the new one we just applied for. Which allows any pets that aren't pits/rots/etc. It also has a huge lot.

How much clearance is too little? At this point I'm thinking I'll just use the $16 pair of lighter 11" rotors, then I can find stock 15" wheels for winter tires.

I'm down at the wear bars on the outside of my neogens but not the inside, it's been about 15-20K miles of street driving, so that's not half bad. I think I am 1.5/1 degree f/r camber, so I can see how they handle camber well, obviously I need more camber lol

 

<p>Wow, that actually looks like a lot of clearance. Can you measure?</p><p>An idea for clearance is to search for where @Mobius ran his 11.75 brakes without wheel spacers on 11.75 TSE brakes. He had clearance static, but under braking he didnt have clearance anymore. There were numbers dropped there. I'll see what I can dig up.</p>

 

<p>I'm pretty set on the 11.5&quot; rotors. Especially if they fit on my x8s. Then I can put winter tires on my x8s and get some x9s for track duty next year.</p>

I've about 1/8" of clearance, but my wheel weights take up all .125" of that at the moment, the caliper would knock them clean off.

What would I do about wheel weights, if I wanted to run 11.5"? I don't know squat about wheel balancing, other than I put tiny beads in motorcycle tires I mount myself...

I did one track day without spacers; didn't notice any contact afterwards between wheen and caliper.

It was a cool day, and I didn't push very hard though. If Andrew says spacers are required, they are. I did get some 3mm spacers off eBay, and they seemed to work fine. I was uncomfortable running 5mm spacers on stock wheel studs.

Totally balance race wheels. The outer weights just need to be placed inside the barrel far enough to clear the calipers. Even my local Les Schwab guys were able to get this right for me every time. Just communicate clearly *with the dude doing the balancing* what you need.

 

<p>I found a guy near my house who mounts and balances in a one man shop by himself for 55. Bet I could talk him down too if I go there enough.</p><p>He only put wheel weights on the inside for me, works great so far.</p>

Balancing has worked for me. But Andrew knows more than I.

 

I don't think anything short of 1/2" of spacer would help me gain more clearance radially, the barrel of my wheel is pretty flat, about 1/2" worth of flat, actually.

I guess if I had the inner balancing weights stuck about 1" off the back face of the rim I'd get back to 1/8" of clearance all around, which is apparently cool, don't think I'm anywhere near the spokes. I'd like no spacers, if I could. I think my wheels are dual plane balanced right now, may as well keep it if possible.

Guess I'm back to making 11 and 11.5 brackets, haha

 

<p>When you get new tires you will need to rebalance anyways. Just get the single plane balanced.</p><p>I'm really pumped the 11.5 fit for you. I hope dial-ins have similar clearance.</p>

 

The flatout has to have a tight barrel because it's a deep dish wheel, the dial with the spokes mounting so far out, like a high positive FWD wheel, I doubt you'll have any clearance problems.

I donno, maybe it still has the same barrell size. I'll pull my wheel and measure again later with solid numbers if you want.
