Solid mounted my Valentine v1. And changed oil. Used a purolator pure1 filter. Pure sex. Outside had a nice grippy surface. Will use again.

I couldn't get the tube nut and sleeve to work for **** either though.

I mean mine works, but it was a pita to make it not leak and I dont trust putting like 80psi through a fuel fitting rated for 50. But the car never gets run more than like 100ft from a fire extinguisher, and its insured for 40k replacement value. I'm redoing it like I said when the new motor goes in.

Is there any reason a fitting cant be tig welded to a steel line?

...assuming obvious precautions are taken.

I mean they sell weld on fittings. I dont trust myself to be able to weld that. Its not easy to weld the stainless fitting onto the coated steel line.

The coating can be removed.

Other people weld.

Does yours just leak or what? Maybe I'll search for those swagelok compression fittings. They are good for buttloads of pressure. Going to call my local line place too.

Leafy did you do it with stainless fittings or aluminum. What part leaked.

Mine leaked from the compression connection until I got them juuuuust right. And then they were a pain to connect to normal an connections because the **** was oddball. The right way to do it is by flaring the lines.

I tried both. Compression thingers. Also the flared style. Both sucked, both leaked, both wasted my time. (i blame the weird metric size tubing and the fact that i was trying to do this with the engine in the car)

I ran straight up 6an line all the way back to the pump bulkhead. With some stainless vibration damping snug-fit clamps.
I cheated a little and used hose barb to AN fittings in and around the fuel pump.
I've kinda been searching for a different filter setup with AN style fittings on it. But it works the way this is now, so i'm not sure if i'll ever change it.

Leafy look at the kat20 link I posted. Is that what you mean by flaring the lines? That's what I thought the rx7 thread did farther along.

Yeah exactly like that. But with stainless or normal steel bit because I really really dont like having a steel or stainless tube with a flare onto an aluminum AN adapter. The lip of the flare can dig into the aluminum face and make a shitty connection.

Hmmmm, if the stainless -5an-6an fitting was ******* $25 a piece I would do stainless for sure.

You guys are boring in here. I'm still debating alu or SS. I'll probably try Aluminum because I hate myself and like making more problems.

Had a good weekend. Got an awesome bandsaw on CL for cheapsies. Has all the original literature from 1980 when it was made. It does both horizontal and vertical. Also came with spare parts and spare blades.











Hailey suprised me with a trip to World of Speed, which I had heard of but never been. The place was ******* awesome. So many cool things. My favorite was the boats. @Erat you will like these pictures.









Almost got a dog, but we were second in line, and the first people adopted her. Bittersweet. Glad shes going home, sad shes not going home with us. Sweet little aussie terrier mix.

$140. I'm very excited about it. Needs a bit of tinkering and adjusting before its perfect but so far its awesome.

Yes. The key question to ask is "Can you chop my valve cover and make it not ugly?". And the answer to that is probably no.
