CSF is in. Good quality rad. But the brackets were not impressive. The lower mount hole is slotted and not the right sizeish.

I actually used the CXracing radiator brackets. But only because I had already modified them to tilt my radiator forward to fit my oil cooler.

My car is annoyingly cold blooded. Took 20 minutes for it to get to 205F* in 90* heat.

 

Only 2 more days licenseless. Hopefully for the last time. I need a better lawyer.

But I do get to drive the car on sunday, which I'm really excited for. Even if its just auto-x.

I'm still working on getting a holset. I think I finally found one. But i'm moving a lot slower than I thought.

With the ring, and Hailey applying to nursing school i'm shortish on cash. I'm also really trying to save for a house instead of blowing money. I'm tired of paying rent.

So next projects on the car will be lower budget, but hopefully higher fabrication. I'd like to get a t5 swap done this fall/winter. Monk is going to hook me up with a couple t5's from middle america where they are cheap.

Then you will all get to witness me struggle through documenting the whole swap. Hopefully will learn a lot in the process, and break as little as possible. End goal is to be under the cost of a 6 speed for the whole swap.

-aluminum for bellhousing flange, shifter relocation ~$150

Im still undecided on a PPF adapter vs a solid mount trans+diff. I know @bbundy and @yank both have individual mounts. But a PPF adapter might be better.

Once I get a t5 here I will start sharing some of the ideas I have for it.

I also have my fingers crossed that emilio will have a new organic disc supplier for the twin disc so I can get new organic disc to go with the t5.

 

Once you by the house, you'll get to be tired of paying for repairs/improvements to it instead.

(Worth it in the long run though)

Renting feels like throwing money down the drain. At least repairs/improvements feels like getting something back.

 

Mortgage interest and PMI (often necessary for first-time buyers) feel the same way, plus you need to keep a rainy day fund in the bank for when the furnace fails in the middle of winter and it'll be $4000 to fix it in less than week.

In the absence of government messing with the market (rent control), on average buying should prove to be a net win in the long run. The big value to me though is the stability and resulting customizability that it offers.

Currently not spending lots of car money to try and avoid PMI. Goal is 20% down.

 

I highly recommend keeping the PPF. Anyone using a PPF isn't sorry with the results of controlling the suspension.

I can show you how we cut and built an adapter for mine. Really isn't tough to do - especially with all your ninja fab skilz

 

kewl. Post up some pics when you get the chance. Only worry there is getting the angle just right between the diff and PPF. I'll either have to get it just right, or have a way to shim the end of it.

 

Everyone needs one of these. My rad swallowed like an extra quart of coolant after getting all the bubbles out.

 

Autocross was cool today. I didn't drive, just coached hailey all day. Im probably biased, but she killed it. Started the day at a 100.33, finished with a 77.26. about a second off Ed in his s2000. And 6 off of an excocet on Hoosiers.

Had a gnarly fuel leak on the trip up. My fuel rail to NPT to AN6 adapter was pissing fuel. Like a solid stream. I had tightened it in with Teflon pipe paste but I didn't tighten it enough. Pulled it all out, lubed it with motor oil. And cranked the ****** down. No more leaks.

 

You have the cheap universal ebay aluminum adapter deal too?

Think you can buy one without the NPT in the middle, like this.

Turbo smart one. I literally just didn't tighten it enough. With the oil I got another 1/4 of thread engagement.

 

Proper lube makes everything tighter.

She really did a helluva job. She definitely has a natural ability for this sort of thing!
