That has no bearing on the torque spec(except maybe modifying the value slightly dues to friction coefficient). The torque specs assume the assembly is designed to properly preload the bolt.

Dam, we have had this exact convo like 3 times now.

Also they'll torque a little weird since they have o-rings.

Everywhere. Like 3* at least. But for heavy track use its probably what you want for ultimate safety.

Ok I should have asked.

"How is this for a base startup map. That will get me driving and tuning fuel without knock. It will most likely see the dyno before the track, and if it doesn't it will only be running wastegate, or none-of-it. EGT probe will tell me if im so conservative that i'm toasting valves."

That spark map looks ~2* more advanced than my stock 10:1 piston bp6d map that runs to 180kpa on nm 91.
Not sure what pistons you're going to use, but if they're the forged 8.6:1 slugs I imagine you'll have to give it the old Aidan try to make it knock.

Forged 8.6:1 weiscos. I'm going to rely on the EGT probe to keep from toasting valves, and play with the knock sensor once were up and running.

I also need to break the motor in, which is what this tune is mainly for.

Its fine in that case
I usually run less timing at idle tho

Lol cars don't knock there, it's mainly to keep idle smoother and use less fuel. Totally fine either way

If it's like 60-70 inlbs it's the little cover. If it's 90-125 its the 4 bolts. Pretty sure they're the same as cam caps

Torque spec is, you fucked son, buy a new one. You'll be the only person in the history of mt.net to re-assemble one correctly if it works.

Josh has done at least 2 now afaik. And plenty others have also. From what I can tell that's an old m.net wives tale.

Either way. I have a spare.

It's the simplest ******* piece of machinery I've ever ******* seen. Who the **** is having issues. I've disassembled and reassembled half a dozen with ZERO ******* issues. It's not voodoo magic. Disassemble, clean, reassemble in reverse order, done. The **** people.

OMG look at it explode:

If you look closely you can see the VVT parts coming out the tail pipe:

This one managed to survive 48+ hours of enduros, track days, and dyno runs*. You can tell, at 148hp, it's right on the brink of loosing it's VVT sprocket.

*It actually blew up on the dyno at 146hp due to loss of oil pressure. Engine and VVT sprocket were rebuilt, dyno'd at 148hp, and the two (engine and all important VVT sprocket) have done a 16 hour enduro and 2 driver test/tune day so far. Again, mere minutes from explosion I'm sure.

Getting closer. More items knocked off the list. I'll post up downpipe brace pictures later, but I'm really happy with how it came out.

For future reference the lower rad hose I just bought is gates part number 20661. This is of no use to anyone else. It's just the one that fit.
