I think BEGI also sells the braided kits for like $60. Or eBay, haha.

Okay, another thought. How about a re-man SR20 turbo? EDIT: Nevermind I did some searching. Looks like I'll go with a SR20.

EDIT Part 2: Anyone had experience bolting this to a FM or BEGI Downpipe? Should be all good, right?

Come on OP...

SS AutoChrome Manifold and Downpipe: $45.00 - Craigslist
T3/TD04E ChinaCharger: $129.95 - T04E T3 T4 63 A R 57 Trim Turbo turbocharger Compressor 410 HP New | eBay
Megasquirt v2.2 kit: $157.00 - MegaSquirt-I Programmable EFI System PCB2.2 - Kit w/ BLACK CASE DIYAutoTune.com
Tial 38mm Wastegate: $150 - Miataturbo.net forum
Ebay Blowoff Valve: $20.00 - Ebay
CXRacing Intercooler: $99 - Ebay
GM IAT sensor: $14.95 - AutoZone
Flyin'Miata Boost pipes: $360 - Flyinmiata.com
AEM UEGO Wideband: $140 - MT.net forum member
Vulcan Firesleeve 1" x 3': $24.95 - ebay
Vulcan Firesleeve 3/8" x 3': $14.95 - ebay

Basically for +/- maybe $200 for odds/ends I spent about $1156 to turbo my 1.8. Some advice, spend a little more money on the boost reference line to your wastegate or you'll end up with an esploded motor after a few 23+psi pulls. Was this the best setup in the world? Not even close. Do I have a few more things on the car which weren't mandatory? Yeah. Was it unbelievably quick? You got it.

Thanks for the parts list, you have a seriously cheap (in a good way) build!

I'm going to avoid the chinese turbo and manifold/dp, but other than that you're right on. How hard was it to build your MS? Because paying $150 for it vs. paying Brain $600 to build it for me is a biiiig difference.

This is true. Would it really be that big of difference for a "mild" 200whp build, though?

if your question is: will it work and/or run my car and/or suffice for 200whp, then the answer is yes, it will.

i just don't like when people compare ecu's with about 10-15 years worth of development differences between them like they are the same

Oh wow, I didn't know it was that much time between them. That's a long time in ECU years!!

Its like comparing the difference between windows ME and windows 8 and calling them the same because theya re both made by windows. Also the "oh i'm just looking to make only 200hp" bs... havent u learned anything when we were discussing ebay manifolds about the "oh i'm just looking to make only 200hp" theory?

Good analogy... Windows ME is a much better and more stable OS than 8.

Hey my Mac setup is budget too! Cheapest Mac mini they've got, plus 16GB of cheap china RAM, plus a 27" Sony TV for the monitor, plus a used bluetooth keyboard and magic trackpad. Cha-Ching!

Okay so back on topic, here is where this build is seriously going now (From a $500 build to $2k):

Bought stuff:
460cc RX7 Injectors
Rebuilt SR20 Turbo
SS Manifold from SKmetalworks

Needed stuff with highest amount I hope to spend on each:
Brain's MS $590
Used BEGI/FM/Custom downpipe $150ish?
Used Wideband $100
CX racing intercooler kit w/ BOV $190
Air filter $30
Oil/coolant line kit: $45
Inlet/outlet for SR20 $50
IAT sensor with tap: $30
Oil pan tap: $10
Other fasteners and stuff: $50-100

I already have a full dual outlet Racing Beat exhaust, so this should be it. I don't think I need a Walhbro pump from what I've seen. Feel free to add/subtract to this list, or PM me if you have something you want to sell or saw a good deal on!

I am going to have fun with your list. My comments are in bold.

Needed stuff with highest amount I hope to spend on each:
Brain's MS $590 Good choice, I support giving my BFF cash
Used BEGI/FM/Custom downpipe $150ish? Expect to spend more then that having a downpipe made
Used Wideband $100 Buy a new wideband. An MXT-L is $166.00 on Amazon. It is worth the piece of mind knowing you have a good one.
CX racing intercooler kit w/ BOV $190 Good choice
Air filter $30 Looks fine
Oil/coolant line kit: $45 You will spend more then that on getting quality AN lines made. I recommend Bat Inc with Mocal parts for cheaper lines
Inlet/outlet for SR20 $50 Goodluck finding them that cheap. Expect to pay full price for new at about $80
IAT sensor with tap: $30
Oil pan tap: $10 Drill bit and tap are a bit more then $10
Other fasteners and stuff: $50-100 Probably about right

Oops that was a typo on the oil pan tap. I also found the Wideband even cheaper on eBay at $155... I didn't know they were so cheap, I'll just go that way (thanks!): http://www.ebay.com/itm/INNOVATE-384...-/370520832034
