thats all relative imo. you can have a fast reliable cheap car. however I think a cheap car is 10 grand and I think fast is a 12 second car. so again I always hated that statement because IMO its just not true.

 

I concur. Cheap then has to be substituted for "fab skills and fab tools", "knowledge", "time". As is proven on this forum, if you can weld, you can make your own manifolds, exhaust, IC piping. That plus ebay intercooler + used turbo + injectors + fuel pump + MS + rubber not AN hoses = sweet turbo rig for around $2000 unless you weld like a horse.

 

That's pretty much what it comes down to: what tools and skills you have. no tools and no skills = you're **** outa luck and have to pay much higher to put together a setup (unless you're a classifieds scavenger and manage to score insane deals on everything)

 

wait what's wrong with the DIY/mcmaster ball/spring MBC? FM sold them at one point. I just screwed one together but haven't installed it yet.

Be honest you only bought a new boost controller because you are afraid when my car does run that I will be passing you at a 60 roll blowing the tires off.

 

Looks like an inexpensive solution to me. Nice thing about mcmastering it is that you can change parts / spring rates without buying a whole new controller. Either way it doesnt look like you'd be out much if it didnt end up working the way you wanted..

Good god yes. If you're only occasionally tracking, there's no way in hell you'd need the 6 pots. I'm sure Savington gets tired of hearing it, but I use his black car as my baseline. Yes 6 pot calipers sound exotic, but if he doesn't need them for his black car (yet, at least), I am smart enough to know that there's no way in hell I'd need them either. It's only added weight and an added $250.

I'm sure they don't make much money if any off the calipers anyways, so I'm sure you could email him and ask for $250 off the 11.75" kit and then give summit racing $500 for the 6 pots, if that's what you really desire.

P.S. keep in mind pad price as well, I haven't looked it up, but I'd imagine they're more expensive and harder to find than the equivalent 4 pot pad. 4 pot pads can be found easily just about anywhere, FM, Goodwin, TSE, summit, etc. It's an incredibly common caliper.

 

Sav ran 6 pots for a bit. They aren't worth it. You get a barely better pedal feel and thats about it. The pads are more expensive and of course they don't work with the TSE BBK kit.

 

OK I just bought four sets of BBK 4 pot 11.75". One set for each boost controller I own.

 

So you bought one and a half sets?
