Run a comp and a mazdaspeed maybe?

Doing the engine build yourself, or farming it out? I have an urge to build, I have the tools, I don't have the experience :(

I ended up getting the mazda comp mounts back when i was looking. I think the cheapest i found them was either from 949 or Rspeed. They were all the same price though +-5 bucks so i just went with the links recommended. From memory the MSM mounts were 80 something and the comp 90 something. I got mine from Rspeed.
Hmm on sale now. When i got mine they were 90 something.

Are the IL Motorsport/RSpeed ones just reboxed comps?

I know CorkSport has these guys: Miata Performance Parts | Mazdaspeed Motor Mounts

I bought a set from them thinking they were the actual MazdaSpeed ones, but it turns out they are rebagged Competition mounts. I got a hold of a single factory bagged Comp through a Mazda dealer and they are exactly the same. Not sure what I'm going to do with 3 engine mounts now

No clue, there is a difference though MSMs are 35% and comps are 40%. Not worth the headache in my opinion.

Picking up mint MSM mounts from Bryan.

Farming it out? Dude, I'm offended. Of course I'm building it myself. Just like the last one, and the handful of other ones I've done for local guys.

R Speed: Mazda Miata MX-5 Mazda Speed Competition Motor Mounts 40% Stiffer
I actually stumbled onto your thread when looking around. It was helpful. Thanks

Hmm, well 5% is really not much difference at all. This being a street car though, I want maximum smoothness, so I'm going with the least stiff.

I'd get stock replacements but something tells me I want at least a little stiffer for those money shifts I'll have to do at the track LOL

Moar progress:

Engine looks to still be in great shape: cross hatching still perfect. head looks super clean. Valves look fine too. It had a bad headgasket, so will probably have to resurface the head just in case.

So far so good.

I'm at about the same stage and have stalled. I have 2 VVT heads and need to decide which one to DIY rebuild/assemble. Then I need my block bored/honed by a reputable shop. Both things worry me a bit.

Ill be watching this and starting back up another build thread myself.

Cool beans. The going is slow cause I'm super busy. But its going. I removed/cleaned and will be tapping the pan (welding it like it should be done properly) this week. Also will start on the block.

After that comes the head.

What turbo are you running in there again? You got rid of the 2876R, right?

Correct. Since I have a long-tube T3 manifold, EWG, downpipe, and hotside (all part of the ETD setup) I decided the 76R would be a little too laggy for my new plans for this car. I decided to try the "smallest turbo to achieve power goals" approach.

I am using a GT2860RS, but with the T3 hotside.

I don't think anyone has done this before (at least not on here).
The goal is to get a ton of torque under curve, yet maintain maximum flow up top. With the built engine and e85 I should be able to push this thing to the limits if I want, and HOPEFULLY, hit 350WHP with a ton of torque everywhere.

That's the (optimistic) goal as of right now anyway. I am not trying to break any records or impress anyone, this is more just the direction I decided to move towards with this car. I will honestly be happy with anything over 300

If I had admin powers I would totally change the thread title to something like:

"GT2860RS T3 Hotside Record Attempt"

and then hope you post some illegible dyno runs.

That would be mildly entertaining...

OH SNAP!!
Actually now that I think about it, I think I saw your dyno plot while googling around for 2860rs setups. Didn't really know much more about it aside from the plot and the fact that it was 2860rs.

Nice man.

Though I'm sure that setup was nowhere near peak efficiency at 13psi and on pump gas and on stock block, and without vvt.

How did you like it?

How do you like your current setup?
How do the two compare and is there any input or advice you can give me? Anything to watch out for?

Lay it on me if you have some time
