Low-z is 'better' because the majority of the time, the minimum PW/deadtime on a low-z injector is much better/faster than a high-z injector of a comparable size -> which means better idle and much better drivability all around.

IDs are a different story. They are a high-z injector that has minimum times quite a bit lower than even RC low-z injectors.

I was maxing out the 750s so I needed to upgrade to something bigger. These are exactly what I wanted in an injector. Given a choice, I will always choose a high impedance injector. There's a lot more technical crap to it, but I'll save it for someone who can much better explain it than myself.

How's the idle and all that? As in what AFR do you have it at and was it easy to set them up/dial them in.

Yeah - no kidding, I would never have guessed anyone would be happy with high z injectors if they were over, say, 450 cc.

So yeah, how's the idle? What is it you like so much? You have me very curious. I keep maxing my 550's, likely 750 will work but....

Oh yeah, what do they cost? :-P

The idle is great, steady and smooth at 940 rpms at an AFR of just over 14 once it's warmed up. I'm actually able to get it to idle a little lower than what I was getting with the 750s. As for what I like best, I can't really put my finger on it. Everything's just smoother and the fuel map was much easier to get dialed in. Even after the old injectors were cleaned it has never been this smooth.

Like most changes I have made to the car, it's hard to know for sure if it truly is better or worse without getting another opinion. Jeff C drove it this past weekend and is quite familiar with how it ran previously. He can probably also give a fair and impartial review.

As for cost it was $502.45 shipped to my door from 949 Racing. That price includes everything required to make these pnp in a Miata.

I think that this is a pretty fair assessment. The car is getting pretty close to what I would deem "perfect". There is always something to mess with, but as it sits now, it is just really......crisp. Idle is buttery smooth, whereas before you could feel just a slight miss and it would get sort of choppy. Not a 'bad' idle by any means, but not nearly as nice. Throttle response is really snappy off idle, much better than my car (more torque + lighter flywheel help), but there is no hesitation or dip. Startup is also much quicker now. Drivability wise, its just smooth. I can't give a 100% breakdown as it was a little damp when I drove it, but throttle transition is very nice and boost onset is smooth and much less violent than it was in the past.

Violent is EXACTLY how JayL's car needs to be described on a "strait line" tune.

Overall, the car feels like a "sports car" now. The addition of the suede wheel fixed my #1 complaint with the car previously. Wood grain grippin is great for ridin' your whip to In-n-out to chill with your homies, but when you are trying to control 300+whp around a corner, your palms tend to get a bit sweaty . Hopefully I'll get some more seat time in the near future to experience how the FM bars have affected the ride.

Jason has really set the bar for the PNW. Obviously my car wont be nearly as bad ***, but if I can get it 75% of the way there I'd have a really hard time not grinning my *** off .

(Also, I know BBundy's car is a ******* monster, but I havn't had the pleasure of checking it out, perhaps in the near future I'll have to change that )

Jason and Bob have both set different bars with their miatas. Both are great in their own rights. You have to see the engineering on Bob's car to really appreciate it though. Both up in the air and on the ground. As I told him last time I was at his place, his car is inspiring. When I have a BBQ and drive at my place i'll invite Bob over as well so some of you southerners can see what he's bringing to the table.

Jason, you should get a second steering wheel. The oils and sweat from your hands are going to turn that suede into regular leather in no time. You really should only touch it with gloved hands to keep it nice and grippy and suedey :P

I'm keeping the Nardi and just getting a quick release hub so I can swap them out as needed. The Nardi is a fine for Sunday drives and the drag strip. Nothing is worse than getting smoked by a Miata with shiny interior trim and a wood steering wheel. Law enforcement also seems to be more lenient when the car has that wine and cheese look.

OoooOOoohhh.... about that... when you were in the porta potty during tech inspection I totally ran up with a creeper and a portable jack with a gang of some real mean oompa loompa's and we went to town "taking out" your 4th gear, just knowing how much really needed it.
