How hard were the hood louvres to do? I'm thinking of running the NC ones on my MSM

 

Thanks, they weren't hard to install, just time consuming. But I'm not sure how the NC louvers will be as far as installation. They look like you have to cut more bracing too..

 

I got a 99-00 valve cover from 99mx5 for my LS2 truck coil setup and have everything I need but the plug wires. I'll be calling Magnacor in the morning for a custom set.

Thanks, it'll be getting the VHT crinkle black treatment like my current valve cover.

 

Welded up the letters on the valve cover and then shaved them and sprayed it with the wrinkle black.

Alright guys, My LS2 Truck coil swap is complete! I thought I was going to have to rewire in the factory coils because I was getting no spark at first but then I realized that with all the excitement of the swap I forgot to hook the CAM sensor back up....

Once I hooked up the sensor the car fired right up, THANK GOD!

I took her for a rive and shes running great!

You can see in the picture I took tht the CAM sensor is out... haha I'm glad it was a simple fix.

She sure does look sexy though!

You never told me if the car overheated on the ride home. Did you do anymore cooling work since I saw you?

 

What Spark plugs, gap and dwell time are you using?

I've had issues trying to get my D514As to fire using NGK Iridium spark plugs(BKR7EIX-11) which are gapped at 0.044"

I've tried using dwell times ranging from 2.5ms to 4.7ms to get the engine to fire up.


Switching back to the original NGK HKS M35i sparkplugs and Magnecore KV45 leads, dropping the dwell time back to stock 2.1mS and everything fired up as normal.

She ran good, I remounted the oil cooler to the underside of the radiator support behind the hood latch to raise it up a couple extra inches. I tilted the intercooler back as far as I could and made new support tabs. Then I cut the bumper support like you mentioned doing but I took it further and cut it along the lines of the bumper cover and 3M taped up as many holes as I could. I also reinstall the engine undertray. I haven't got around to sealing everything up all the way to the bumper yet but its definitely better.







I'm 99% positive I have the same plugs but they are regapped to 0.025" and my max dwell duration is set to 4.5ms with a max spark duration of 2.0ms, cranking dmwell is also set to 4.5ms

EDIT: It's funny, I just took a look at your thread and I used the wiring diagram you posted to wire up my coils. I just did a google image search and didn't realized it was yours until now. Thanks for the wiring help Lokiel!

 

Now that's a good hole! I'm going to go open mine up some more.

 

Thanks, if you open the bumper support any more than how you have yours you'll find the hollow center. That's why I have so much 3M tape on the back of the bumper support to close off the hole you create in the support.

 

I can weld a plastic cover over the hole.

 

That was actually my first idea but I didn't have any plastic handy. What are you planning on using exactly?

 

AMAZING UPDATE: I finally got the car tuned on the MS3 Basic and it runs great! I also tried out the launch control and that was a blast! Car is running 20psi now!
