With the 6 speed + 3.63, gears 1-5 remind me a lot of the 5 speed + 4.1. And that's funny, because mechanically thats pretty much where its at. Then you drop 6th on it and just cruise. I thought long and hard about a 3.9 but then Hustler posted his 3.63 up for sale so I went for it. I cannot imagine having boost with the 6 speed + 4.1 combination.

Cruise economy was not the point though. The much wider gears will be a boon when I start pushing 2x or 3x the current power through it

Glad to hear your 3.63 install went well. This is on my to-do list as my 6-spd is just 1-4-5-6 - Can't WAIT to get more mph out of 2nd/3rd gear

I will let you know how horrendous it is with over 300rwhp shortly. I also still need to just buy those motor mounts from you. I am going to need them for my power and track use regardless of how much they vibrate.

I had a 6-speed with a 4.30 at one point... with 330whp at the time I was losing to stock SRT-4's. While in gear you could clearly see that my car was much faster, then I'd shift and drop back, shift, shift, shift... It was a completely worthless setup. On the 3.636 setup now, incredible difference.

Sounds good, just shoot me a PM when you are ready and we can work it out. I know you are having a barrel of fun with the AC right now and I'm in no rush.

I've got all the AC components from my NB1, but I'm pretty sure none of it is interchangeable without custom lines to mate it up to the NB2/MSM stuff :(

Man, 6 speed + 4.3 sounds like a mess. ALLTHESHIFTING! I ran the stock NB1 5 speed + 4.3 combo for a while and swapped it for a 4.1 torsen as soon as I found one.

add me to the list of people that tried 6+4.3 and then cried about it

currently 6+4.1 and even with the baby msm setup it's annoying. ugh

If you have the compressor with the lines still attached could you take a picture for me so I can look at mine and see what might be different? I think they mount to the condenser in the same place but I could be mistaken. I would need the bracket too. Troy wants to see if he can think of a way to modify my current setup to move the compressor down but I don't have much hope for that working out myself.

Yup, was running the 6 speed with 300+ whp and it was seriously dumb. What you want is BOOOOOOOOOOOOOST shift BOOOOOOO9OOOOST shift... Instead it's BOshift BOO shift BOOST shift. Barely get to enjoy it. At high boost I wasn't far off top of 6th on the back straight of PIR.

Yes, my last session I forgot to turn the boost down and ran at over 20 psi and 300+ whp in novice group at PIR

On the 30r it was more like

Bspinnnnnnn- shift
BOspinnnnnn - shift
BOspinBOspinBOOO - shift
BOOOOST - by the time I actually get a clean pull people are pulling off the road thinking I'm having an epileptic seizure

Its all dissasembled and hidden in a box in my garage, but I'll see if I can pull it out some time this week and get pics for you.

But before I do any of that, I owe Ed a box and a tracking number.

Ungh! Wife will be out of town all weekend and I have no Miata tasks in the queue.

Maybe I can put the MS3 and the RB exhaust back on this weekend and make sure its all up to snuff for when the built motor goes in. There is a very good chance I won't be breaking it in with the turbo strapped to the side of it. I'd rather not try to break it in with possible boost and a questionable tune.

Studs are in! This time with way less suck and fail.

That sucker is CLOSE. With a strong light I can see its not contacting, but I cannot get a post-it note in between the stud and the manifold. Apparently I didn't get the stud quite short enough so I need to do a little more clearancing on my compressor housing. Le sigh. The reddish stuff is of course, Resbond 907.

Also, my manifold has blacked out. VHT 2000 matte black baked per instructions. We'll see how well it holds up. It went on a little thicker then intended as the Swain coating just kept sucking up the paint and it was hard to get even coverage.

Also: OMNOMNOM! M-tuned fuel rail modification for clearance.

Because valve cover clearance is serious business. Not shown: I epoxied the OEM plastic spacers to the stupid fuel rail. **** those things.

Gesso did the machine work, he has access to a mill and I don't :( Clearance is definitely not an issue now.

I haven't seen "outside" since 7am. Getting your box in the mail will be a great excuse to do so
