Closest Techshop is San Jose, and that's a solid hour one way.

I just ***** my labor out to Gesso and in exchange he cuts and welds things for me. I think we stopped tracking the hours he and I put into his NB and never even bothered to start keeping track for the Exo, but needless to say, its a lot of hours. Its fun for me, lets me wrench on things I don't have to pay for and lets me play devils advocate and make him spend money. Its a 2 way street

By the time he's driven to the nearest techshop he's most of the way to my place and then he can help me with my projects...

Sweet build sir! Just went through some of it. One thing I see, kinda just a question I guess. Could you run bolts instead of studs with that turbo manifold? Looks like you could install bolts from the manifold side up, and have the nut where they are now on the turbo flange. Would be better than a stud regarding reliability IF that's possible, from the couple pics I saw looks like a maybe?... If you ever have to mess with it again, I'd look into it.

You seem to be more carried away than I am, so I'm gonna never click this thread again!

I probably could. I thought about that, but I decided I wanted inconel, and inconel bolts are kinda few and far between while the TSE M8 studs were just an email away. My EFR turbine housing is also the absolute worst one on the entire planet so that does not help one bit. Just a little more grinding and I'll be where I want to be.

You have no idea. If you want to see insanity, go visit my now abandoned Rotrex build thread.

I don't know what EFR you're running, but if it isn't making enough power I got a bigger one I'll sell ya! I'm gonna search for your rotrex thread later, as I'm building a supercharger setup now so who knows maybe I'll learn something?

The little one T25 flanged 6258. I'm not russian so I don't need anything bigger.

I can't say there is much to learn from that thread, mostly just me getting really frustrated.

I'm looking at it now, looks like so far you had belt issues. I'm learning right now that it's a huge pain in the but to get the SC exactly square in every direction. I'm waiting on a bushing for a new idler pulley right now to put a better idler to "hopefully" get my belt stuff 100% fixed.

I gots a 7670 that's T3 if you ever need to make all the powers...

It was mostly me raging about KW straight lying to me about the parts they were selling me to fix the problems they should have worked out in production. The current owner of the kit made some solid modifications and is having a great time with it so I can't talk too much crap about the kit itself. I still believe in the Rotrex as the "EZ Button" for boost, its just the company that was backing it up and how they treated their customers that was my biggest gripe.

Buuuuuut now I haz EFR and built motor. Eventually my head will get here so I can finish assembling the engine and then away we go. I'll probably sit down this weekend and make up a final shopping list of "little things" I've forgotten to order, then I suspect things will come together fairly quickly.

Yah G caught the absolute worst of the legendarily bad Kraftwerks customer service experience, which he sort of carried over into Skunk2. Sort of.

INB4 EFR-fed baus engine leads to G constantly stalking the gearboxes experience thread

I discovered that my injectors were sitting unprotected in the bottom of my toolbox for the last umpteen months. Now they are boxed up and ready to mail out to FIC for cleaning. I figured I'd rather be safe than sorry. Hopefully they are fine and like, not rusty inside or something equally stupid because the last tine I want to do right now is drop cheddar on a set of IDs

Also, remember that plan back on page 1 to graft EV14 injector clips to the factory injection harness and reloom it? Well, I finally got around to finishing it this weekend. No pics, because I forgot. I'll take some tonight. Its pretty.

This now begs the question: Do injectors have polarity? I would imagine they do, but what happens when you hook one up backwards?

This type of paranoia is my life now.

I wouldn't think they have polarity. I'd imagine it's like any other electromagnetic coil/solenoid.

I don't have a picture but my red/white wire feeds (+) power to the left side of each injector clip.

I have both the wire-in clips and the pigtail adapters, so I hooked them up with exactly the same polarity the pigtail adapters had, becauseparanoia. And I guess you are right, it IS just a solenoid and it shouldn't matter. There is SO much more room under the fuel rail now that its silly.

It'll be really nice to be able to remove each of the harnesses individually. Next up is the ignition harness, though I still have not decided if I'm going to build that one from scratch or not. I still have my old Toyota COPs and harness, but I may still build one from scratch because I want it to route and terminate differently, and I want it to plug into the factory connector. I'll probably price out another order with Ballenger and see how lazy I am.

NOTE: the marked polarity of the EV14 injector is possitive lead on the right ("+" on the right deep inside the connector), while the Honda clips are generally wired the opposite. Polarity can be reversed with no harm done since the EV14 injectors omit the flyback diode sometimes added to solenoids; your ECU already has flyback diodes in the ECU's injector driver circuitry.
Some research^^

I think I saw that exact same post when googling this earlier, but thanks

I'm confident it'll work, I was pedantic about matching the polarity through the adapter pigtails so there *shouldn't be any issues. Again, my main concern right now with the injection side of things is something stupid like fuel varnish or rust inside the solenoid section of the injector. I'm kicking myself for not having pickled and stored these things properly

Fancy harness! I also extended the factory temp sensor wires about 10 inches. That may have been excessive.

No polarity. I did a loom a year ago or so and honey badgered the polarity and it ran like a boss.

Its really not that hard, just takes the right tools and a bit of patience and practice to get it right. A proper crimper really helps for stuff like the injector pins. Someday I'd like to rebuild it using all new TXL wire and new harness connectors rather than just reusing the factory harness but again, I'm super lazy.

I find building wiring harnesses to be somewhat zen. Give me some whiskey and some 80's David Bowie and eventually I'll spin up something that works.
