I'm ready ask my local school board (CUSD) to mandate that vaccinated people not be allowed on campus. Unvaxxed only.

Further, I'll be asking them to replace all school desks with restaurant-style desks, so kids can take their masks off just like in restaurants. Mask on to go to the bathroom though...

it's weird, they serve food in schools, so kids should be okay sitting at their desks without a mask...

So my work van was broken into a couple of nights ago and other than the couple thousand dollars replacement value of tools, I also had to get a locksmith to replace the ignition switch cylinder and go out and by locks for all the doors. Thankfully the thief wasn't able to drive away with the whole truck and with the padlocks on all doors that possibility is going to be a bit tougher now.

Anyhow, I started talking with some friends, neighbors, and colleagues, and they all said they had noticed that theft was on the rise (firsthand or second hand info) as of about 3 weeks ago. About a month or so ago, I also noticed that the AIRB&B across the canal from me wasn't being rented as often. I commented this to the lady that cuts my hair as she mentioned weekends were a little slower for her too and she said it's likely due to the bonus unemployment everyone was getting had been cut off.

So I can't help but come to the conclusion that the rise in theft is likely due to the same reason people aren't travelling as much, or for that matter, even getting all purdied up. Am I just being a dick and assuming the worst of the unpaid unemployed?

Til: white privilege means i can shoot people in self defense and get a $2million bail, while a black gangster can shoot up a school kill 4 in cold blood and walk away the next day on an extremely low bail.

No there's absolutely no reason to be unemployed right know unless you live in a state that believes that your body belongs to them.

Hector: I'd say you are either making a case for Universal Basic Income; or an observation on the depravity of mankind (which is what I think you mean by "assuming the worst..."). Maybe give a little time, and some folks will go back to earning their living. But remember, weaning is a painful process.

One of the greatest things about this pandemic and the stupid decisions of our politicians is the proof that ubi will fail. People won't work if they can Suck the tax payer tit.

DNM, definitely not cheerleading UBI, it makes even less sense than $15/hr min wage for making taking the french fries out of the basket. I am just assuming (and possibly wrongly so) that since the free money is not available, crooks are back at taking other peoples money the old fashioned way.

Bajingo, I never quite understood the end-game of everyone getting paid to do nothing and letting the taxpayers pay for it all. I mean, sooner or later, don't you run out of taxpayers? Is "Idiocracy" the future as opposed to "1984"? Neither one seems great but I guess I'd rather get a lapdance at Starbucks than shave with the same razor for a year.

Combine 1984 and Idiocracy and I'll bet that's where we are headed.

They weren't killed.....just shot up real bad. 45 caliber leaves big holes.

Was just thinking that the 18 y/o punk had a newer, nicer car than me.

They don't prevent it (100% rate), they reduce it. Same with severe disease and death.

The Pfizer test on teenagers showed that kids getting the jab will experience negative effects over four times as much as if the population had just gotten Covid. No, really.

That, plus the well-proven fact that children have a higher chance of dying from the flu makes the kid's vaccine mandate here in California truly stoopid. At least as adults we have a choice between Pfizer, J&J, Moderna, AstraZeneca and even other options (China has their own version). And of course all the vaccines are showing waning effectiveness against Covid, down to 20% effectiveness. My 89 y/o dad was almost comatose after his first Covid shot. We would have taken him to the hospital, except who the Hell wants to go to the hospital now?

Hopefully there will come a time when people will see that the vaccines are somewhat effective, BUT come with their own risks. Wouldn't it be nice for each individual to have the option to choose what's right for them, especially given the true data coming out every day?

Net benefit. At the end of the day, society as a whole is better off if every one gets the vaccine. Some will die because of the vaccine and many times more will be saved from it.

I know what my chances are from dying or getting a permanent side effect from the vaccine (<0.1%) than dying or getting a permanent side effect from covid (8-25% depending on several factors) and without a doubt chose the vaccine.
