I wonder how Londoners acquire guns?

DNA belonging to Reiss, Ralston and Ricky Gabriel was identified on the deadly weapons, but it proved impossible for the police to ascertain which of the brothers it belonged to.
Scotland Yard detectives then launched an extensive investigation to establish which of the brother had handled the firearms - and using mobile phone and surveillance evidence were eventually able to prove it was actually all three.
The 28-year-olds, from north London, were found guilty of conspiracy to possess firearms and ammunition with intent to endanger life in July after a trial, which saw five other men also jailed.
Ricky and Ralston, who are both semi-professional footballers, were each jailed for 14 years at Blackfriars Crown Court on Friday, while Reiss, who also admitted two counts of possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply, was sentenced to 18-years.

A Swedish scientist speaking at Stockholm summit last week offered an unusual possible tactic in combating global climate change: eating human flesh.
Stockholm School of Economics professor and researcher Magnus Soderlund reportedly said he believes eating human meat, derived from dead bodies, might be able to help save the human race if only a world society were to “awaken the idea.”
Soderlund’s argument for human cannibalism was front and center during a panel talk called “Can You Imagine Eating Human Flesh?” at the Gastro Summit, reports the Epoch Times. “Conservative” taboos against cannibalism, he said, can change over time if people simply tried eating human flesh.
Some of the talking points at the seminar included whether humans were too selfish to “live sustainably” and if cannibalism is the solution to food sustainability in the future.
When asked during an interview after his talk if he personally would try human flesh, Soderlund said he was open to the idea.

fake news!
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/cia...13DcdOvbtF4Sqk
The Central Intelligence Agency on Monday evening slammed what it called CNN's "misguided" and "simply false" reporting, after the cable channel's chief national security correspondent authored a hole-filled piece claiming that the CIA had pulled a high-level spy out of Russia because President Trump had "repeatedly mishandled classified intelligence and could contribute to exposing the covert source as a spy."
The extraordinary CIA rebuke came as The New York Times published a bombshell piece late in the evening, which largely contradicted CNN's reporting. According to the Times, CIA officials "made the arduous decision in late 2016 to offer to extract the source from Russia" — weeks before Trump even took office.
Concerns about media reporting on Russian election interference drove the decision, according to the Times, which described the source as "the American government’s best insight into the thinking of and orders” from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"Former intelligence officials said there was no public evidence that Mr. Trump directly endangered the source, and other current American officials insisted that media scrutiny of the agency’s sources alone was the impetus for the extraction," the Times wrote.

Fun Fact: no president has churned through security advisers this rapidly since Reagan. And he was the guy who appointed John Poindexter, the genius* who brought us the Iran–Contra affair.
* = literally. Poindexter had a Ph.D in nuclear physics.

"Living close to work shouldn't be a luxury for the rich. It's a right for everyone."
What?
I mean this in all seriousness, what the hell is Beto talking about?
Calling something a "right" doesn't make it so. The Democrats think everything is a right. This isn't even anywhere close to a real issue. The worker chooses how far they are willing to commute to work. That's a large factor in deciding to work somewhere.
Plus, what is with the assumption that the "rich" live close to their work?
The president of the company I work for lives much further away from the office than I do.
Are we really going to blame the rich for all of our problems and inconveniences? Is that something the Democrats are really going to do?
I'm genuinely flabbergasted by the sheer stupidity of Beto in this video.

If they [Republicans in the Senate] want to fail it, then I want to see every Republican go on the record and knowingly vote against impeachment of this president, knowing his corruption so that they can have that stain on their careers the rest of their lives because this is outrageous to protect the amount of lawlessness.

The store owner in San Francisco's South of Market says he's about ready to close his business because of the constant unwanted visits from violent people.
"They come disoriented. They come high. The bathrooms are used for drugs," says Gill Desaulniers.
He and his sister Marian started the Harvest Urban Market on Eighth and Howard streets 16 years ago.
But times have changed, a lot.
"I've found people in the bathroom here with needles in their legs."
Marian Desaulniers says she's been attacked many times. The most recent happened when she was working the cash register.
"With both hands, he pushed me against this thing," she said.
On Friday, Gil was bitten in the arm by a violent homeless man whom he tried to subdue. He also sustained bite marks in June by a homeless woman.
"A girl came in, trying to get her to exit the store and she grabbed my arm and just bit me."
He added, "We're not even running our business anymore. We're basically dealing with street people."
They're everywhere in his South of Market neighborhood, living on the street and in the numerous alleys intersecting Eighth street.
Police and Public Works clean up crews tell the homeless to pack up and leave, but they come back hours later.
"About every fifteen-twenty minutes, somebody from the street comes in the store and tries to do something."
The thefts and attacks have become so bad, the owners are considering closing their family store.
"It's just not worth it. Yeah, you know, we pay taxes to the city. The police can't do anything. The laws have changed."
Mayor London Breed says mental health reforms and help for the homeless are her priorities and once they're achieved, they can help beleaguered store owners.
"I would say to people who have had enough to just hold on," the Mayor said. "We're working toward resolving the issue. It will take some time but we ask for patience."

The Washington Examiner quoted O’Rourke saying, “I don’t see the law enforcement going door to door. I see Americans complying with the law. I see us working with gun owners, non-gun owners, local, county, state, federal law enforcement to come up with the best possible solution.”
He added, “I have yet to meet an owner of an AR-15 who thinks it’s OK that we have these kind of mass killings in this country.”
When asked to clarify his plan for enforcement of the ban, O’Rourke said, “How do you — how do we enforce any law? There’s a significant reliance on people complying with the law.”
The Democrat presidential hopeful is counting on Americans to simply hand over their AR-15s, AK-47s, and other commonly-owned semiautomatic rifles if the government tells them to do so.

Beto is from a small city in Texas, where the suburbs do in fact follow a pattern in which wealth decreases with distance from the city center. San Juan is also a lot like this.
In NYC, it's largely the opposite. The poorest live in the city itself, since that's where most of the subsidized housing is. The mega-rich live out on Long Island and commute by helicopter.

Other occupations decrease in popularity, as one would expect.
I'm less familiar with the demographics and employment distribution in El Paso, Texas. I assume that they have more handgun vendors than NYC, but likely a similar distribution of Kings of European countries.

But in reality, NYC does not rank very highly in either gun-related crime or overall violent crime. Some of the top contenders are obvious (Baltimore, Detroit, DC, St. Louis, etc) but did you know that the following states ALSO have higher homicide rates than NYC?
● Indianapolis, IN (18.8 per 100k)
● Albuquerque, NM (16.9 per 100k)
● Milwaukee, WI (15.4 per 100k)
● Tulsa, OK (15.2 per 100k)
● Toledo, OH (14.2 per 100k)
● Orlando, FL (14.1 per 100k)
● Nashville, TN (12.9 per 100k)
● Louisville, KY (12.8 per 100k)
● Houston, TX (12.2 per 100k)
● Greensboro, NC (11.9 per 100k)
● Wichita, KS (10.5 per 100k)
● Phoenix, AZ (8.9 per 100k)
● Aurora, CO ( 8.9 per 100k)
● San Antonio, TX (7.0 per 100k)
● Charlotte, NC (6.8 per 100k)
● Seattle, WA (4.3 per 100k)
● Portland, OR (4.0 per 100k)
By comparison, NYC is merely 3.4 per 100k. And that's all five boroughs, not just Manhattan.
Source of data: https://www.thetrace.org/2018/04/hig...s-cities-list/
Obviously I excluded a whole bunch of cities from the above list. I trimmed it down to just places where you wouldn't think "Gee, that seems like the sort of place that would have a higher murder rate than NYC."

Also, it's interesting to compare state gun laws to firearm homicide rates by state.
Here are the top 5 states in terms of rate of homicide by firearm:
• Lousiana (7.7 per 100k)
• Missouri (5.4 per 100k)
• Maryland (5.1 per 100k)
• South Carolina (4.5 per 100k)
• Michigan (4.2 per 100k)
Mind you, these are homicides only. They exclude suicide, accidental shootings, police shootings, etc. Strictly the kind of thing that 2A'ers carry guns to protect themselves from. (Data source)
Of those states:
• Four have a "shall-issue" policy for concealed carry,
• Three permit open-carry, and
• Four have no restrictions on things that the anti-gun crowd get twisted up over such as magazine capacity, Title-II weapons, "assault" weapons, etc.
A couple of things are interesting.
The rate of murder overall (regardless of tool) tends to track the rate of firearm-related murder pretty tightly. Meaning that is someone wants to make another person not be alive anymore, they're going to find a way to do it.
The states with the lowest rates of firearm-related homicide (Vermont, New Hampshire, Hawaii, Iowa, Utah, etc) share little in common in terms of their firearms laws. Some are extremely restrictive, others are extremely permissive. What they do all share in common are:
• Low rates of overall homicide
• Low rates of poverty and unemployment
• Low rates of racial / ethnic diversity
I find this fascinating. It's almost as though individuals have more control over whether they are going to commit murder than Congress does.
