Bullshit. Al Gore invented that!

Kidding, kidding.

Dude, the Joint Cheifs are on record saying that the budget is huge right now.

And I just have to point out the irony of you being all about gov sponsored military projects, but hugely against gov sponsored healthcare.

Private business comes up with tons of innovations without the gov. Last I checked Bill Gates was not wokring on OSs for the military. take a look at where the innovations are coming from in terms of low-earth orbit stuff. We dont need 500 F22s. We need 1000 F18s. We dont need missile defense that may or may my not work. We need well trained troops protected with top notch body armor and drones. Thats stuff we already have which costs less than those 500 F22s. And all those things are made by private companies that employ pretty middle of the road people. In other words, the gov does not have to push tech forward any more than it has to push healthcare forward by being economically in control.

Could we use so cuts in some areas to fund others and/or pay off National debt? I suppose, should we cut natl. defense's budget to pay for Health Care for those who don't deserve it? (yes i said those who DO NOT deserve health care, you know the ones that don't work) or to create more wasteful government hand-out socialist programs? Absolutely not.

Hmm....military funding/research = safer country...gov sponsored healthcare for worthless **** bags with no jobs= less money to make my country safe.

Yes, clearly not agreeing with both of these things is hypocrytical/ironic.

The main purpose of the federal government is protecting our borders...why would we cut defense spending? it employees and incredible amount of people and acutally has a purpose.

besides, with Obama as pres we got iran and north korea testing our limits...if they only knew that they could invade us and obama would still try "diplomatic" methods to ask them to leave.

i changed the topic, i admit that, i made my comment, and you made yours last on the subject, and i didn't point blame to anyone for doing anything, i wanted to talk about healthcare again.

i will take your political comments with respect, cause i don't really give a ****, i have come shifting towards the right (from left) since birth from my ultra liberal parents, even though i am still left.

however, this racist *** bigotry i will not accept.

Racist? Who said anything about race? The person who makes a comment with no regards to what race what so ever = racist....but the person that drew from what I said that I was making a racist comment isn't..? Interesting.

You know, my 12 year old brother's school tried to suspend him a few week ago...wanna know why? Some kid went and told the teacher he was being a racist....WHY? Because said kid happens to be black, my bro happens to be white, and my little brother refused to give the kid his food when he told him to give it to him.... Now I don't konw about you, but situations like this are pretty fucked up in my opinion. I mean if my little brother said, no you can't have my food you're black..maybe..but instead he said "no it's my ******* food, go away" and the first conclusion thats drawn is that he is a racist.

This country is going straight to hell in a handbasket.

Why are you opposed to people who use the road more paying a higher percentage of its funding?
I'm not necessarily. But the point is probably moot since the highway system is between states (commerce clause) and most other roads are paid for locally. But they are still a common resource and charging people to use them would mean poor people couldn't commute as readily. sometimes cheap homes aren't near the jobs the residents can get...

The cost of taxes to pay for others is infringing on my right to happiness.
Except people aren't cars. If your wife got cancer and then tried to get insurance, would you still feel that she didn't deserve treatment because it was unprofitable? It's unprofitable to you as an individual to be with her too.

The roaming lepers hanging out in your front yard who couldn't get medical care would probably infringe on your right to happiness too.

lol @ highway talk. although i will admit that ultimately it is a good simple way to look at this kind of thing.

and i vote that every outside topic from now on, not just in this thread, has to be formulated in car perspective.

example:
If your insert classic car got cancer and then tried to get insurance, would you still feel that she didn't deserve treatment because it was unprofitable?
y8s does make a very good point though, there is a lot more to it than numbers

You've never met a white laquisha?

I apologize for being an *** hole, all this stuff just really irritates the hell out of me, I'm very strongly opinionated (obviously) and that won't change, just like I can tell 95% of the people here have made up their mind and will not change it for much of anything.

... ?

The lepers would be posing an imminent danger to my well being as well as the well being of others living in my home, therefore if they are on my front lawn, they get a bullet to the head and a "should've had a better job where you could've gotten health insurance" from me.

In all seriousness though...how often do you see roaming lepers in your front yard? Never, Why? Because no matter how poor you are in the United States of America, you WILL NOT be denied basic medical care that you need to survive, period, end of discussion.

Still waiting for a response to my gas taxes comment BTW y8s.

Anyone else notice all the Big Pharm and Big Insurance stocks going way up today? Investors know what's up....

....but I'm sure Obama is going to "take on" Big Health just like he said he would.

It's called health insurance for a reason...

1.
the act, system, or business of insuring property, life, one's person, etc., against loss or harm arising in specified contingencies, as fire, accident, death, disablement, or the like, in consideration of a payment proportionate to the risk involved.

2.coverage by contract in which one party agrees to indemnify or reimburse another for loss that occurs under the terms of the contract.

you pay IN CASE, they are not there to service you IF. They take a risk, you take a risk. They make money that you willing to pay for the service and you benefit in case something happens to you.

The idea that IF you get sick then you start paying someone .00000001% of the costs related to your condition makes absolutely zero logical sense. What business do they have paying for your misfortune? How does this make sense to anyone?

I wonder when/where the first health insurance plan/company was and who thought of it...maybe someone here feels like doing some research. I'm willing to wager a bet that it came from some genius who saw a great way to provide a service to people that would help them lead a happier/healthier life AND make himself a kick-*** profit at the same time, you know, something that comes out of the idea of a capitalistic society...? I can't imagine that some dictator/socialistic society came up with the concept of "hey lets spend all of the Country's money to help take care of the sick poor people."

I may very well be wrong though, feel free to prove it to me.

Well they can't even seem to pull that off. What makes you think they can manage our health care system?

Want to know MY problem with state run health care? Management. Just wait. You're going to have a bean counter who will decide if the cost of an operation that might save your life is worth spending the republics money on. What might help decide that? How about your age? "Sorry, but you're 80 years old and we don't feel improving your quality of life for another 10 years is worth the price."

No, it won't get like that overnight but mark my motherfucking words, it'll happen.

Hell, let's not let the "massive profit margin" myth go unchallenged either.

CARPE DIEM: Health Insurance Companies Rank #88 by Industry Profit Margin, Earning $100-200 on Avg. per Policy

It'll be like TSA, 15000 employees in a 10sq ft area and it still takes you 1 hour to get through security and i still got my pocket knife through AGAIN.

by this argument we should get rid of government entirely, i've met a few libertarians and i am actually befriended to a few more, but none of them are true libertarians
