What i got from this thread is - these are all Dann's personal projects. He owns all of them and this is his idea of the optimal way to build a car. What am I missing?

Im not even sure what everybody is arguing about.

Brain said 3" DP to 2" exhaust is retarded. Everybody agreed. Then some other **** happened. Finally, I tl;dr'ed.

I think I got it now... we're supposed to gobble these cars up because they're heroin.

Dan, get real. You've been here long enough to know what the reaction is going to be when shitty cars are being posted, and you're posting many of them. The sad part is you expecting a reaction different from what happens each and every time. You are familiar with the definition of the word "insanity," right?

You're clearly unhappy here and have a beyond delusional idea of what the "cookie cutter" build is or what needs to be done to impress this community as a whole. If you have a problem with everybody else, then well...

We get it. These are customer cars. They suck ******** due to situations out of your control. If the comments you're seeing are too much for you to handle, then re-evaluate. You have direct control over whether or not you have to endure this awful ordeal each and every time.

Consider this an intervention. I look at you like a beaten wife/vw owner. "This time he will really love me/not beat me/the CEL will stay off, it'll be different!"

No. No it won't.

Also interested to see some of these large amount of PMs you've been getting from old members complaining about what the forum is. You've been referencing them for about a year now and have never done anything but reference them. I'm calling your bluff.

Oh, and I have at least 55 PMs from noobs saying how much they love it here.

"I'm still on your side. Please don't stop posting. I like all the information and your fab work is awesome. The forum has been changing and I feel like only a few of us on here really care about just having fun and breaking the norm.

My car is coming along in leaps and bounds at the moment, but no one seems to care. So I was wondering if I could direct all my pics and questions to you instead? If you wouldn't mind. "

This person has a LOT of posts here. This was this week.

And I don't think the forum hates on me a lot, and I quote.

Basically same as every time, this time too if you want to go back and have a look, it was civilised until 2 guys showed up to troll.

I don't want everyone to love me, but for ***** sakes can I just post a bit of info which people can look at without the BS flaming immediately from those 2?

I mean, they act like I am a complete tool with no idea, one of the guys who has posted in this thread drove 8 hours to my shop and voted with his wallet, and I would say that he probably has one of the top 2 or 3 nicest and best cars on this site, all of the hot parts too, and I built those, I know I can build nice stuff, so do all of you, so why flame when I build parts a customer asks for?
I don't need everyone's approval, I'd just like to be able to post a bit of data without some arsehole assuming I am trying to win hearts or some **** and attacking me immediately for not building a customers car how they would have done their own.

If I cannot have that I'll just stop posting, Having said that I probably have built more turbo miatas than well, many many prominent members here and have the opportunity to test things that most just cannot, if you don't want that as a resource, fine. Ill read the threads, test my own stuff and leave you all to it. If people wanted me to try **** and test it in the way they wanted it tested, where possible I would, but when I try to do this all I get is flames, sure I troll back too and that doesn't help.

Go ahead, flame away.

Dann

EDIT: did admin REALLY just edit words out of this to make me look like a tool? **** you if so, honest to god...

Nope, you did that to yourself.

When I read all the talk about how this forum has just become a giant flame fest and Dann is just trying to bring useful information to the table this is the quote that comes to mind:

"Because he's the hero MT deserves, but not the one it needs right now...and so we'll hunt him, because he can take it. Because he's not a hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector...a dark knight."

You don't read these threads?

The first post here clearly states that here is one setup I just finished and here is a dyno and a shot of the other.

Like I own 2 Na6's as well as the 300whp one and all of the cars I post in the fabrication thread?

Are you guys dense?
Is the preface really required? I mean, if it is, you guys are dense. Brain and 18 I know are trolling but... anyways..

Dann
Dann - Out of curiousity, did you actually read either of my last two posts?

At no point do I think anyone assumed the cars were yours. What we did, reasonably, assume is that you:

A) ... built that downpipe on purpose and didn't think there was anything wrong with it.

B) ... could have strongly suggested the customer throw a few hundred more dollars at the car to fit a proper exhaust

C) ... thought that ridiculous dyno was somehow useful or informative

Now that you've explained that the downpipe was made that way at the customer's insistence and that exhausts are triple the cost in Australia that they are here in the USA and that you had no idea that dyno chart was, in fact, ridiculous... It all makes a lot more sense.

We could not have known any of that based on your posts. THAT is why a preface would be nice and would have completely prevented the shitshow that followed.

In fact, I'll post how this thread could have gone below...

Same turbo location on the log and everything.

The reason it has that downpipe setup is because the owner insisted. I let him know it would be a significant restriction and probably hurt power and spool, but I am just the builder. His budget was stretched and exhausts are about triple the cost here versus the States.

That, and the cops like to hassle modified cars so quiet exhausts with small tips help fly under the radar a bit.

Here is one of the first dyno pulls, with a boost control failure. 14psi here by memory. I didn't tune this, not my dyno, not even my city.

161 kW is about 216 BHP. That seemed pretty good based on the compromised setup but I'm not real familiar with the dyno stuff.

As for that dyno, here is an explanation on the "Shootout mode" and how it can artificially inflate the power numbers. I would pretty much disregard that sheet.

You should tell him his car wouldn't suck so much if he got a better exhaust setup.

Still not sure what caused it, yet.
