Well, I'm back to running my original spark map now. I've been running that for about 10K miles.

The modified map I tried was actually based upon a hybrid of your spark table and Joe Perez's spark table. Higher than yours, lower than his. I would note that Joe's was tuned (I think) for WI and I'm using WI. I used det cans during the run and didn't hear any. Also, at 192K miles, I wouldn't be surprised if I'm a bit low on compression.

Thanks for the heads up. Think I'll go pull the plugs and see how they look. Might check my compression while I'm at it.

Brad, FYI, I'd purchase a registered version if it had run averaging and the ability to save HP and Torque points in a text file.

Any feedback on being able to export data rather than graphics?

 

Yes there is now the ability to graph any column in using the new button at the bottom right of the Run box when you load a graph. You cant miss it.

I have never had anyone want to export data but that sounds like a great idea!!! CSV format should suffice right? I think I would just include Timestamps, RPM, HP, TQ in the export ... what do you think?

 

That would be fine, although you could also export what you import along with new HP and TQ columns.

I'm just interested in having the data for further processing in Excel. In particular, I want to be able to plot engine efficiency (TQ/MAP) for tuning.

Did the interpolation function work out for you?

 

Most significant to us I think is the fact that you can drag n drop MSL logs without having to pull the first line out! (Just tested and verified it works, yay!)

40kPa is 8.8psi of vacuum. You're not in boost until you're above atmospheric (~100kPa). ??

Just released 1.1.7 which should fix some of the issues in 1.1.6. The big issue people were having with UAC should be addressed now. I tested it on multiple machines with UAC turned on and before it would give the error, and after this patch, no error. Hope you all enjoy as its a minor update but fixes some pretty hefty errors.

 

What is UAC?

 

Its User Account Control ... its turned on by default when windows is first installed. Even though you have an admin account on your machine you do not run as an admin all the time. Only when you need the privileges will it elevate your account after asking you. This is only if the programmer has accounted for such a request for elevation. If not (as in VDs case) it would just crash at that point.

You can turn it off by using MSCONFIG. That is one of the first things I do when I install windows for myself. I learned that if you want to overcome this while programming I need to have my application request a higher account level when running and that's what VD does now. This only is required if modifying the registry or other system level functionality is being used. Virtual Dyno has only a small number of these required system calls so I have to request a higher access level for that purpose. 1.1.7 should take care of this issue and I'll build the fix into subsequent versions (in fact my build process is automated and it now includes this fix in the build process ... in case you are wondering it is based on including and merging application manifests with the executables and dlls).

i really like writing software to communicate with embedded devices. Done a few windows apps for that in the recent past.

 

So now that it seems this app is looking good I guess I need to figure out how to actually use it and give it a try this weekend. I also have a dyno app on my Android phone that I guess I could try to compare the 2 dyno graphs from.

 

BTW, yesterday I tried the similar function from MegaLog Viewer. However, it doesn't include an aero or tire drag correction (meant for use on the dyno), so not useful for street tuning.
