But yeah, I kinda find it odd: FR says "of course it will get replaced". Himni says "Nope".

Good point, I didn't think about it.

Of course there was no way in hell I would be paying anything but shipping cost for this, either.

Yes, when the first turbine wheel failed, Garrett emailed me with intention of, possibly, sponsoring my car.

This was their last response, after I told them I got another EFR.

Hi Leonid,

No problem on your decision to stay with your EFR. It’s your car and your build…we just wanted to try and help out. We were considering sponsoring your build with the turbo, new v-band housing (if needed), external wastegate and BOV (if needed), some stickers and a shirt; but since you’ve decided to stay with your EFR setup we will have to rescind our offer.

We don’t normally make these types of offers but your issue came up and someone had the idea to see if we could help. So far, you’re the only person we’ve given this offer to but probably won’t be the last. Best of luck on the build and we’ll continue to follow along in your posts on Miataturbo.net as well as YouTube updates to see how this all turns out for you.

I just want to say I <3 my Garrett.

I am sorry Soviet that BW is such a shitty company that makes a shitty turbo that can't last.

yeah, same here. Garrett's twin scroll V band housing looked cool at PRI. But anyway. Sucks bigtime. Maybe they can rescind the rescind.

I decided to give Precision a try cause everywhere I hear their service is great and most places say they work well. I know you wanted a bolt on deal though. Sorry man :(

Best of luck soviet, I can't imagine the kind of rage you're feeling after hearing that news. Please keep us updated on the status of the turbos.

reminds me of the turbo i bought new, that had the compressor blades hitting the wall of the compressor housing, and the place i bought it from saying it was my fauly because I clocked the turbo.

i'm sure it had nothing to do with them trying to stuff a 60trim T4 wheel (76mm) into a T3 housing, especially when I asked for 60 trim T3 wheel (60mm).

Borg Warner is like, 8 hours away from me. I will shove the turbine wheel down their throats.

One thing you can do is to show BW the emails from Garrett and that you decided to stand behind their product even when Garrett was going to go out of their way to help you solve an issue caused by a defective BW product. Now you find that your warranty request is denied after it had been made clear that the issue is a defective turbine wheel.

I'm not sure if you also might want to mention that this is your second BW turbo that has suffered the same defect and the first one is being covered under warranty.

I'm sure they'd have a good laugh over your paragraph one.

This doesnt look good for my support of BW. I really like their products but if they're going to pull that I might have to look harder at the GTX-R stuff. Last I looked they didnt have anything size wise that compared to the 6258.

Well.
Someone is trying to screw me over and it's either Himni or BW. Both are "the good guys". So I don't know yet and won't be able to tell for sure until I get in touch with BW directly.

I like how they're like "we can file a claim, but it most likely going to get denied".

That is shady as hell. They didn't even file a claim, and already denying responsibility?

Something doesn't add up. BW agreed to RMA my completely unused 6258 last week simply because it's an early build. Now they're denying warranty on a turbo they haven't even seen yet?

I think there's more to this story.
