Not for an 8374

I've already pretty much planned my 2J build, just need to you know... Buy parts and actually do stuff to the car. When I was planning I took my sweet *** time deciding what turbo to go with, and an EFR8374 was like 2200 bucks for twin scroll with wastegate.

Crappy luck about the turbo, the faster you rebound from a fail the better it will be.

 

Welllll it DID spool realll nicely. Gt30 power with GT25 spool is win

anways, IHI must build these turbos...this is what happens in the MS Miata all the time if you rev it up too much...i think that's why it only has a 6500RPM limiter.

Nope. I'm 95% sure it was mostly intact because for the next 50 miles there was some rattle in the exhaust. It stopped about 10 miles from home (turbine wheel was freeeeeeee!)

reminds me of when I ingested a screw...no way in hell you couldn't miss that noise and I know exactly when it left the engine, turbo, and exhaust...but no missing turbine blades, just bent one slightly and caused the shaft to bend as well.

when this happened, the passenger didn't even hear anything. I heard a small *pop* that's it. It made no extra noises afterwards, just a little bit of rattle when the car was starting.
