We recently lost an autocross venue in the area, not because of buttsex, but because it "damages the parking lot"..... people saw tire marks and the locals freaked out.... plus they're building a retirement community nearby. Old people have sway in matters like this.

Unfortunately, buttsex will always be viewed by many as a dangerous and destructive activity. There's nothing that can really be done to change that.

That said..... I enjoy watching buttsex; doing it well DOES take talent, seat time, and lots of car control. I don't do it (unless you consider sliding the tail a bit in the wet or snow to be buttsex), because I don't like smashing my car into things, or being lumped in with the nutballs that do it dangerously in the streets.

The "culture" surrounding buttsex, or more specifically, what the media PORTRAYS as the culture surrounding it AND import car "culture" in general, is what bothers me. I see no reason that we can't have tv shows, car shows, and events without all of the "that is so mad tyte JDM yo" that seems to go on. The over-hyping of import enthusiasm in general makes us look juvenile as a community.

Just look at shows like Car Crazy on speed channel, as soon as Barry Meguire features anything involving the import scene, they automatically find the most outrageously retarded car they can find (pimped out cavalier or other such abomination), and the most badly spoken yo-boy Rice-fanboi to talk about it on camera.

To much of the esablished car community, we, as fans of import cars and what is percieved as the "culture" surrounding them, are a big joke. That needs to change.

I think that the sentiment on this forum regarding ******** (buttsex if you will), is a reaction to the above sentiment. Censoring the word on the forums was simply a jab, and I believe a lighthearted one, at buttsex as a vehicle for the stereotypes surrounding Import car "culture" as a whole.

AHahaha, very amusing thread... Whats going on JB? How was that auto x event a few weeks back? I'm still saving up for those seats so let trav know I didn't forget about them.... Ah, This is Bryan, I picked up your old 91 seats in case you forgot.. Anyways I'm trying to find the time to replace my seals still but after that expect me to be tracking with you guys..

Why do we discriminate against each other, whatever sport or event we are into we still drive miata's so should'nt we be supporting our brotherin where ever they are and however they wish to drive? Just makes the miata more appealing to all drivers and hope it makes my cars blue book go up, ahahah, yea right... well anyway thats just my 2 cents... Later guys...

What planet are you from? I see some a-hole driving a miata with one rusted fender, rainbow paint on 2 others, SUV weight wheels, slammed, huge wing, lot's of JDM awesomeness stickers, his stereo rattling every panel on his car, doing the 4 lane weave without signalling and I'm supposed to support him since "it is a Miata"!

I'm sorry but stupid is as stupid does and I'm sure going to call it stupid when I see it. I don't care what he's driving. Wrong, forget that... Back it up... it's even worse if it's in a Miata as it makes the rest of us look bad.

If D_R_I_F_T_I_N_G is now called "BUTTSEX", can we rename the the DRIVERS of those cars "---- INTRUDERS"?

God damn it. I was going to respond to many points about this stupid thread, but this thought trumps them all:

Call ******** whatever you want, but not buttsex! There are many, homo and hetero alike (or different) who think buttsex is GREAT! I'm pretty sure the wifey would be pretty upset that you all are comparing a great and noble act to sliding a car sideways for POINTS! There is no orgasm involved! You all lose! Now stop it, you should be ashamed of yourselves...

I love it.
Then it's NOT a SPORT if you can work your way up by kissing *** and sucking Mike Peters or Tracy's dick. That is a large part of the reason I don't care to participate in it anymore.

I still don't get the point of coming to a forum that clearly doesn't care. That would be like me coming over to RD and going on about how HPDE is far superior to ******** and that Marty isn't the God he thinks he is (and yes, i saw that ******* thread... and yes I know he is a member here and i don't give a flying ****).

O my god! this thread is crazy! Drift , Auto X , Drag racing. Its all the same...The problem is getting these **** off the street. I see dumb *** rear wheel drive ******** in the street. honda racing on the street, and people trying to auto cross around road construction cones. Although ******** is the most dangerous on the road...still when everybody is at their own track and place its ...its pretty cool to see a car go sideways, or fast at the drag strip and auto x.

My mexican co - worker thinks im stupid for even making my car fast because i can't go over 65 mph on the freeway. but i told him i could do it at the track over 100 mph...he still think i'm crazy. its who you hang out with and where you go and do. LOL ya got some crazy names for ********! buttsex..LOL

Both of these videos from Zero Lift are ancient. but I enjoy them both a lot. Good editing not just slapped together.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQYOTRPWL9k

For an Australian flavor

And to anyone local to NoVa or VA and MD in general. This is a event from the area.
For everyone else. This is what beginner or amateur level looks like by comparison.

SleeperMX5 "O my god! this thread is crazy! Drift , Auto X , Drag racing. Its all the same..."

Uh, no it isn't.

One of them is car dancing. The other two are competitions where there are clear cut winners and absolutes.

If you mean jagoffs on the street are all the same, fine. The actual competitions? Nope. Not the same.

don't cut your apex too tight, you might lose your fiberglass fascia.

Right, it's like saying that figure skating and speed skating are the same, or that synchronized swimming and the Michael Phelps stuff is the same. Both take skill, but they are far from the same.

Now I've got to look for your historics thread. Love the historic races. A couple years ago here in Portland the big boys were bearing down on the Chicane at the start. A real 427 cobra lost it, tagged a 68 427 vette. Bashed in aluminum and exploding fiberglass. My wife actually shed a tear. She cried to me "you aren't supposed to cry at car races are you?" Even though she hates my Miata, she does love cars.

To be honest you guys talk about it not really being like a competative or timed sport. One of the best ways to earn points in tandem is to pass the other driver, to find an opening in his method and get in front of him. Points are awarded for even being close or pressuring the other driver. All points lost on spin out or hitting the other car.

With that said, aside from points scored for "smoke" which isn't even a consideration in most levels of competition by competent judge. The judging is left down to actual measured qualities. They use radar guns to determine speed, and they've come up with devices to determine angle. Distance from a clipping point or apex can be determined visually and they get footage of for replay value. and distance to other driver.

Drift courses are short, but if you look at the where the most points are awarded its to drivers who show capability to pass the person in front of them, or potential to, were it a circuit.
