WRX is sold
I realized I definitely let it go cheap, this dude basically threw money at me as soon as he saw the car and how clean it was. But he's a cool guy, and I'm glad it went to someone that will really enjoy and appreciate it. I also realized how much I'll miss it as the dude pulled away in it at sunset, and it looked so sexy I cringed.

I have a very strong desire to get rid of the BRZ. Don't want the old EJ of the STi. Looks like basically all the Focus RS are sold out or dealers are asking way over MSRP for them. I can't bring myself to buy a Golf R.........and I can't really justify the price of the S3.

Another Coyote car would be fun.

But I'd really like to get back out to the track again. I think I may ditch the BRZ and get back into an NC and turn it in to a dual-duty car.

18psi 03-31-2016 02:02 PM

I love my coyote :)

z31maniac 03-31-2016 03:37 PM

I loved mine too. It's such a glorious damn engine.

For the moment I'm likely to sit tight and see how my personal life works out over the next 3-6 months with the job/housing situation. I've just finally become bored with how slow the BRZ is, and I don't really want to drop $6k to put an Edelbrock SC on my daily.

z31maniac 03-31-2016 03:41 PM

I'm also half tempted to pick up an EVO X. There are already some big dealers in the DFW area selling base model 5 speeds WELL below MSRP and there are something like 1150 new ones on lots all over the country.

I suspect as they sit around, prices will drop even more.

THoughts on it? Looks like full exhaust/tune is worth 100hp.

18psi 03-31-2016 03:52 PM

they make lots of power with bolt ons and tune
I've tuned a few.
I would never get one lol

well........unless I wanted to build a weekend troll machine making silly power that would get used like once a month

turbofan 03-31-2016 04:07 PM

I've read the 5-spd trans and driveline are stout, as well as the engine.

Why would you never get one? Just curious, just because even more flat-bill brimmed hat wearing bro's than the BRZ community?

If I do another convertible, I'll look at an NC with the Fab 9 turbo kit. I don't want to go from something slow, to something slightly less slow. It will take a few years to really learn the safe limits of everything in the ND platform.

And I really want swooshy turbo noises.

18psi 03-31-2016 05:17 PM

Aside from seats and wheel, the interior is so pathetic I think it rivals a kia rio or something (probably worse).
the car is stiff and really not dd friendly.
the car has no torque below about 4k. like none. zip. zilch. basically a brz
the X is BIG. like seriously, 3500lb, and the way the car is built it FEELS big. completely different from a IX, which feels it's size.
regular driving, the car sounds like a fart. its fugly. only sounds good at WOT
the seating position and overall driver feel is terrible IMHO, despite the ultra-baller recaros, its just such a weird/odd position.

there are lots of cool things mitsu did with that car, but there are also lots of shortcuts. like the OEM boost solenoids (2 for some stupid reson) being literally maxed out from the factory on the OEM tune. so to raise boost more than 1psi you need new boost control. also lots of things on the ecu are not defined, and you gotta hack the code to properly log/tune the car.

the drivetrain is great when its working. when its not, OMG be prepared for the biggest headache and diagnostic nightmare you can imagine. changing the fluid? get ready to need to tow the car to the dealer to cycle the trans/tcase/diff fluid pump(s).

and on and on and on. it's like a smaller scale GTR with half the quality and 90% of the complexity, and 100% of the cheap feeling

I dunno. I really REALLY wanted to like them. esp since they make really good power with easy mods. but I just really don't like them

turbofan 03-31-2016 05:19 PM

Understood. NC is still a solid option if the Fab9 kit is in play.

Girz0r 03-31-2016 05:22 PM

EVO X would be 'too nice' of a car to want to drive imo. It would be the garage queen.

NC + Trubo logic is sound... Though it's an NC :hatecat:

ND otoh, :likecat: I can't wait to see what other turbo kits are developed... Looks like there is some room once you move some stuff out of the way.

I'm sure you've looked into tuning, I/H/E, gains, E85.

Give me the details of what you've found on the S550. Torque and V8 is also very appealing again.

What's it take to get one to live for the occasional track day? I've read the GT350 needs the additional $6500 track Pack that includes oil/trans/diff coolers, bigger radiator, etc.

Girz0r 03-31-2016 10:58 PM

likecat :likecat: for you, even though I dislike the color red :hatecat:

New rims are betterarar...

oh yeah, lol. that and supercharging ;)
flex-fuel tune ONLY and good tires = 11.8 @ 118 this is pretty common :likecat:
I see a lot of guys tracking them as-is, I can't think of much needed aside from replacing the TERRIBLE Pirelli P-zero's to be able to get started.

I've already got some goodies laying around too hehe, but no time to install
