I'm still expecting boost leak. And then a broken ring after it is repaired.

Never go full ebay...

Why not just rebuild what you have? You're not going for ALLOFIT just yet...

This is a learning project right?

Just wondering, Your 1.6 flap maf... Does it have no filter going into the trbu inlet?

So, I am going to do my leak down test today. If all is good I think I am going to do an sr20det factory turbo (gt2560rs). Unless you guys no something I do not. A friend of mine has several since he has several s13/s14 drift cars and extra turbos that came off them. I will probably go with the begi mani and a custom d/p unless you guys smack my hand. let me know

Here's where you need to do some soul searching. Now you're talking about investing real money on your 1.6, and the begi manifold won't swap to the 1.8 you eventually want.

Also, be aware that some SR20 turbos are smaller than the GT2560. Some are small, journal-bearing 2554 turbos, while others are the dbb 2560.

I have a filter but during testing there is no filter attached. Yes it is a learning project.

Problem is, Girzor, we are all giving him somewhat different advice.

"Replace the whole setup, Megan is junk"
"Put in a V8"
"Just rebuild the turbo"
"Turbo the V8"
"Do the 1.8 swap now"
"Where's my damned v8"
"Don't spend any money"
"Do it right the first time"

My two cents: pull the turbo off and rebuild it, and then put it back on.

Here's why: if your manifold is not cracked yet, it may even last a little while. Currently your turbo is worth nothing. If you rebuild it, when it's time to sell it to upgrade to a better turbo setup there will be some value there.

I really don't recommend starting over completely on a 1.6 turbo kit.

But psyber is troll lol, majority of that list is his

And I agree with what you're saying. Run what he has. If it's just a turbo rebuild holding him back to be educated on turbo setups... What a great place to start, aidz & all.

I realize he's joking around, which is why I included it in the list. Made me laugh.

Turbo rebuild, install AFR gauge, fix the other jankiness, drive. Save for bigger, better things.

Or build the bigger better things now, but $$.

Still talking about swapping parts and spending money but we haven't proved the turbo is bad or taken any pictures of the rest of the system. Show me the iac plumbing.

Glad someone else picked up on that. So here is my thoughts on the scenario (assuming leakdown is good and 6shooter signs off on the iac scenario).

Why not get a turbo that will work good for both the 1.6 and 1.8 for 200 whp range? gt2560 (a turbo I can get for free). Buy a manifold that wont **** me off in 800 miles and fab a d/p it will take me a day? the only thing I would be loosing out on. total money is the same as sending my turbo out and Ill end up with a better turbo that will also function on the 1.8 if I choose to do that in the future....which will more than likely happen.

Total invested turbo upgrade: $459
$40 in d/p material
$389 mani
$30 ship/misc

Total invest in rebuild turbo: $440
$375 Rebuild
$65 ship

if you're gonna build a custom downpipe that won't work on a 1.8 anyway, and you're gonna replace the downpipe, I'd snag that free 2560 and put it on a tacotaco mani.

Just my 2 cents.

Well I dont what a tacotaco manifold is referencing. The manifold if I swap to a 1.8 I could sell if I got a decent one. It would take me a 1/2 to full day and $40 to fab a D/P.

Damn. once again it appears they've discontinued the 1.6 tacotaco manifold, and offer only the 1.8.

Turbochargers, Turbo Kits items in miata manifold store on eBay!
