Grease where?

 

Hey that looks like my lathe!

 

Can someone enlighten me on the failure mode of front hubs? I have like 4 extras. And as long as my wheel isn't going to fall off I might just put a used one in my spares box when I go to the track. Instead of buying new ones. Cuz they aren't cheap.

The wheel falls off, great fun.

 

Does it get wobbly first. Or just sudden wheel loss.

 

I've heard it can be either. I've toasted 2 already, they gave no warning.

No i inspect stuff... Sometimes. Wheel was wobbly.

 

Just add checking front wheel hub for play, to the list of weekly things to do. Along with checking chinese sphericals for play.

I didn't go as heavy in the images, but I should of used more.

Keeps it slick and slippery when moving around

 

Why do you no install the white tension ring?

 

Not sure, I was able to slide mine off & on with some lubricated tough love.

 

That color cap does not work at all for the dog with his complexion.

 

Rear spindles are bearingless. I'm toying with the idea of making a set of blockoff plates for all the machined surfaces to save the powdercoater some time.
