Everywhere else relies on proper prep technique and standard gaskets.

Oil pump also needs RTV when it mates to the block.

To each their own. I'll be the next one working on it. And I'll take being pissed off over some peace of mind about it sealing.

Just a suggestion. If you put your paint pen marks down the side of the bolt and onto what you are bolting on. You can use them as witness marks later to see if the fastener has turned.

Thanks! I'll do that on some of the more important bolts. A lot of these are just to remind myself as I am building this over a few days.

Lol, did you get a new one? I'm pretty sure I'm just valve shims, install head, drop motor in car, away from starting.

Did you buy a replacement set of injector O-rings yet? I can practically guarantee that the old ones will leak.

Nope, but it has only been torqued once before (low mileage engine). It is a good couple mm shorter than the one off the 185k motor.

Here is the link to a 25 pack of upper o rings.

https://www.mcmaster.com/#9263k169/=17ec8e9

And what I believe to be the lower o rings used for head to injector.

https://www.mcmaster.com/#9464k543/=17ec90k

If somebody knows what the upper injector o-ring (between the injector and the adapter) size is that would be great.

Lol. Nope, but they don't hurt to keep around. Pretty cheap. And I'll replace them everytime the injectors come out.

I'm slightly worried about my custom fuel rail leaking, so that may be sooner than I hoped.

It appears that the same 14mm o ring for the bottom will work on the top of the injector. Smart move.

Shims showed up. Back 4 needed about 3 hours of grinding. Front 4 I was able to get into spec without grinding.

Front 4 exhaust are done. So 4 more rear shims and some cleaning and seal installing and the head will be ready.
