Would running this bitch CAS only also potentially result in pinging "earlier" than expected with a relatively conservative timing map?

What wiring exactly would be involved in this? I have a valve cover and sensor already i think.

Basically. When running CAS you have timing scatter where the difference between the position the ecu thinks the engine is at and where it is at varies based on belt stretch and this effects your timing advance so you IRL timing advance can dance around by a few degrees of commanded requiring you to run less advance to avoid det from those times when its varied higher.

You got to cut the CAS connector off and extend the wires, Y the grounds and the power connections and wire the sensor wires to the correct connectors.

So basically... 20 minutes of actual wrenching including swapping valve cover and wiring, the rest is just changing settings in megasquirt?

Hung out with btabor on Saturday, think we made good progress on both of our cars with AE tuning. Both of our cars were garbage for opposite reasons.

Got a good table on mine, and it still wasn't feeling right. Remembered what Vteckiller2000 said about there being a lean spot on the VE table, so we spent about 20 minutes running around with Autotune on, and it made a big difference.

Initial tip-in could be a little more crisp, but it's not pegging full lean anymore, and the car feels a little stronger in the low/midrange and seems to be spooling a little quicker.

Kindof wanted to try to get a 2-3-4 log, but the car was ripping tires off in 2nd and 3rd, so that put a damper on things.

This may be why your spark table is so conservative.

Hahahah boy are you in for a rude surprise when the MX6 lives again. That Miata feels pretty slow to me, but it's enough to have fun with.

You've got a lot of headroom in yours, though... we were running that same turbo at 14psi on the blue car.

I'm sure it's not helping things, but on the flip side, most people run more timing even on old BP05s that had this CAS to start with anyways.

I'm not super worried about it, i'm just really hoping that noise i'm hearing is rattling and not pinging. We know the exhaust doesn't fit worth a damn and i certainly have some rattles in the dash.

Figure this winter i'll just make a set of det cans and get the NB1 trigger conversion going and i can re-evaluate. If i can run the same sort of timing everyone else does, this car is going to wake up HUGELY.

Pending sale.

Looks like we might not get to see what this thing can really do, after all. Somewhat disappointed. Many feels in both directions.

Nah.

I wasn't really pushing the sale hard. It happened, so... off it goes.

I like the car more than i thought i would, but it's not really what i was looking for/need at this point in my life.

I promise i will get a hammer vid up of it before it goes, though.

Now to figure out what to buy next!

Is an MSL all we need to run it through VD as well?

That's the main thing i'm sad about. Never got to dyno it doing a huge spike/taper boost plot.

Because dammit i want to use ALL that 250cfm this turbo can do across the entire RPM range.

You ASSume i've driven the car.

It's just sitting in my driveway getting **** on by birds, leaves, and whatever is dripping off the roof of the house. Probably with a dead battery. It's winter here, i'm not driving that ******* thing. I have a Cherokee that keeps me warm because it doesn't take two hours to reach operating temperature, because it doesn't have a Begi Racer Reroute on it.

I did pick up two sets of RT615Ks for it, though. Proud?
