its easy to find an exhaust leak, listen for it, or use a tissue paper to find it.

Before the car gets hot (which is quick with a turbo) run your hand around the exhaust.

Or tissue like brain said. You can usually feel/hear the leak. Did you sand down the back side of the manifold like you did between the manifold/turbo?

I did not think about it when I installed it so I'm sure that's the problem.

Couldn't feel the leak but when I disassembled it was caused by uneven ceramic coating. All 4cyl were showing signs of leaking. Mostly small leaks. Leveled it out, the cleaned The gasket up, added a small amount of high temp sealer to the manifold side just as a precaution. Resealed everything and it is setting up overnight. On a side note I'm really happy with the placement of the intercooler looks like an aftermarket radiator. If I can get it tuned a bit tomorrow I am taking it to cars and coffee Saturday am.

Pretty sure my wideband sensor is dead. Ordered a new one, got it for 54 with a 10 dollar rebate so not a bad buy IMHO. We will see.

Interesting leak found. The exhaust is leaking around the downpipe flange, on both the main flow pipe and the wastegate, in not entirely sure how to to fix that...

That ceramic coat is kicking your ***, isn't it lol there needs to be a pretty good flat surface and some rtv. I never had these problems because I didn't have that ceramic coat... maybe that was a bad decision getting it coated.

Dude it really is, wouldn't have been so bad if I had done it previous to installation. Live and learn. Any idea what's making this thing pop like this?

I think it's a misfire, possibly a bad coil. Luckily I have spares. I just have to find them.

sounds like a misfire.

and I'm surprised the place that coated all that stuff didn't either mask off the mating surfaces or at least clean em up afterwards. that's just lazy

Swapping coils doesn't do anything to help, I have 8 total coils. None in any configuration helped the problem. Any other ideas?
It feels like this car is fighting me the all the way to the finish.

They do the powdercoating for the Tige wakeboarding boats. Pretty big company that just got into coating. They're use to headers that use collapsible manifold gaskets. When it was dropped off he seemed worried about a turbo since he never one (so my buddy told me), I should have told them to tape it off so that's my mistake.

It runs fine, has a misfire. Coils are fine, I rolled it in the garage and parked it. Messing with it a bit tonight.

Sounds good, I'm probably going to cedar point Friday with the family. Saturday I'm off at 1 so anytime after that works.

I'm getting really frustrated with it, we can't tell off its a slight popping leak on the exhaust manifold gasket or a miss.
