sean's cheap thrills, 90 1.6 with subaru td04
What rings are you using? Chrome moly rings? (OEM are chrome moly). If so, use a 400+ grit hone, and scrub the cylinders with soak/water/sponge to get all the metal out of them after honing.

Im being cheap, just OEM iron, or maybe they were steel, see NPR link on previous page. But no, not chrome.
I know, it's a joke but then again, maybe not!
Ah yeah, did the 1.6's have iron rings stock? If so then a 280-320 grit hone is fine. Good news is iron rings seat really fast.

Im just assuming they were iron. The nippon replacements I got are steel, so they could have been steel from the factory I suppose, but im sure nothing anymore exotic than that.

Lol, thats fukin cool. Thanks Aidan. Ive been so busy today, havnt even had time to play community build thread games.
Edit- Its clear they are proud of their product, theyve made a repeat customer. Thats cool they are protecting themselves from ripoffs.

2 out of 4 order fucked up for this rebuild, my kind of luck to be honest.
I was degreasing the rods and decided just to test fit a bearing on a whim, im glad I did.
um... what? see the tang? that isnt going to work

nevermind the fact that its way to thin

The part number on the box didnt even come up in google. I notice its a sticker over a sticker... a warehouse stock number. Peel it back and....
My B6 definitely isnt a toyota 1zzfe

So now im scrambling to find a full set of bearings by tomorrow. After being on the phone for the last 30 minutes, DNJs from parts authority are my only option, I should have them later this afternoon.
