What considered a fair price for a 99 motor in normal markets? Lets assume 100k and running

Ive never seen a bp for less than 800. It seems the going rate right now, whether its from silly slow, that guy in Glendale, or anyone of the yards is 950, whether it's a 94 with 200k or an 03 with 87k. It's fuking weird.

As you already know the 99 wont fit a 94 because the 99 doesnt have a distributor like the 94s do.
Ad was posted for $450, fuking score right....
I get there and its a 94-97. I told him it was a 94-97, he argues and shows me how his CAS wont fit. I didnt say anything, but whoever he got it from installed a plug in the CAS hole with a metal strap across it using the CAS bolt hole, to keep dirt out. It wouldnt fit because the hole had a dirt keeper outer in it. His 94 engine was exploded all over the garage in a way that makes me leery of buying anything from him, but he hadnt touched the other motor so whatever.
I was still thinking of buying it for $450, but in an effort to be a cheap *** and because craigslist, I started to haggle. After he realized it would fit his car, he wasnt sure if he wanted it anyway not knowing the condition of this motor as he had decided to just rebuild his since he was having such a hard time finding a BP with a distributor. I said exactly, if it was a 99, id be ok buying it unknown, but i wouldnt pay $450 for a 94-97 if I couldnt see it run or get comp numbers. He says "$450?.. where did you get that?" Thats what the fukin ad said assface?!?!?!? "Well ill give it to you for $500", or I could rebuild his current mess and have it for free. I told him to go get fucked (not really, I said no thanks), and thanks for making me drive 60 miles and left.

So yea I finally found a sub $800 BP after looking for 3 years, but it pissed me off, and he couldnt even tell me the mileage. I think i made the right choice.

I'd pay $850 for a 94-95 pullout, I could drop in and rip on. My 1.6 would offset that even more. Parts off yours could help.
Not for a longblock though. Intake manifolds and throttle bodies and all the other bullshit is expensive.

Have you checked with the Silly Slow guys? I know they had a BP4W awhile ago for like $900 or best offer. Compression test showed 170 across the board but probably sold by now.
