Not custom. Going to try and tackle it like sav is. Yank welded his belhousing with an rx7 housing to a flange. Going to chop the Miata belhousing and weld to a flange.

How do you plan on aligning the 2 flanges? Both for parallelism and concentricity?

With a trans and an engine block I believe. I need to hash it out with yank, but he did the reverse (rx7 belhousing to Miata engine flange) and its working great. We're just doing the same in reverse.

He's a lot better at the careful measuring part than I am.

Woohoo vacation time, means I actually get to work on the tata!

I removed this vessel

As some of you know, im possibly going to start making delrin suspension bushings, and my car needs new bushings everywhere. I never wrote the dimensions down for the front, and Ive never had the rear apart, so the car came apart today to get measurements and start swapping mine out.

And not a moment to soon. The drivers side FLCA looks like this.

That's the FLCA about to start hole sawing the subframe.

HOAs suck. Cant have anything disassembled overnight, which was never really and issue, because most people dont care, or notice. I mean, i dont have any rusty small blocks sitting in my yard. The miata might be on jacks stands over night, maybe one or 2 night a year. But the she moved in next door, and the HOA has been getting tipped off....

So I outsmarted them

"...why, of course my car has all 8 control arms installed... ...bitch"

Oh yea, this. aidan, here

So it looks like the ball joints are about done. No slop in any direction, but they are super loose and the boots are torn on all of them. Original mazdas from 90 with 158k on them as far as I can tell.

So has anyone used the newish moog NA upper BJ?

I pressed and tacked those moog joints into the upper arms, they haven't broke yet.

The cheap lowers I replaced did, though.

Which ones? And how did they break? I was thinking of going with the beck/arnley because ive had good luck in the past with their parts.

Its so fukcing hard to tell whats chinese crap these days and what isn't. Review on summit said the lower moog is juts a rebrand and youre just paying for the blue and yellow box.

I bought the cheapest lower ball joints off rockauto, one started clicking on a drive and blew out in my driveway on the way back home. I put the OEM one back on with a torn boot to get into the garage, lucky I still had it.

Right now I have new $20 imports from orely's, hoping they last through winter till I get new shocks, install these sphericals and other suspension stuff...

I'm thinking I might just go OEM for the LBJ when the time comes, I think they're like $80 each, but I'd rather not ever have my wheel fall off again, lol.

Yea, I remrber when that happened to yours, I just noticed mine, maybe they happened at the same time. Im sure theres others too.

FUCA

Its weird, one bushing didnt crush much at all and the sleeve pushed in with a good bit of hand force, the other had to be reamed out a lot. Same OD, same 1" drill bit for the bore, but be differences in control arm bores. One side did feel like it pressed in a little harder.

And it turns out dont have the dril bit I need, so I cant even mount these. I doubt ill find a 15mm locally, damn.

OEM or nothing for the lower ball joints. I really should clean the garage and finish some minor projects so I have room to work on my new LCAs that use circle track LBJs.

I ordered six pillows and a mattress pad from Macy's yesterday, and today I got shipping confirmations for 6 boxes spread between UPS and FedEx. Like 20lbs of stuff.
