Declining mental capacity is part and parcel of some forms of cancer. I have seen this firsthand. My M-I-L, who has late-stage lung cancer which has metastasized, is now the equivalent of a toddler mentally.

 

They are telling us now to seek sympathy from the new admin, conservative media and the public.

 

Our neighbor's child was stillborn during Covid. It was devastating.

I don't think this is going away. Hundreds of billions, maybe trillions, "autopenned" by unknown, unelected people. It shouldn't be swept under the rug.

Those who were complicit should go to jail.
Those in the media who covered up his illness and dementia should be shamed and fired.
The programs and dollars spent using Biden's autopen should be undone.

 

Looking back at Massie and Rand Paul....their efforts are largely performative. In the larger sense, the Legislative branch is largely performative. They haven't balanced a budget since Newt Gingrich, and even that was a baseline budget that allowed for growth at the rate of inflation.

I do agree with you though. Our spending took a YUGE jump during Covid, and there's no reason why we can't return to pre-Covid levels. Hell, the simplest goal would be to freeze spending for 10 years while at the same time growing our economy. But that's too easy, and elected officials get elected by spending other people's money.

 

Here's another take on Massie. Performative. The Legislature is broken. Biden tried to break the Executive. And KJ Brown doesn't even know what a woman is, and she's on the Supreme Court. We're fucked.

 

It's about all they can do at this point.

I see a despondent Elon Musk right now, after his team came in and found massive waste, fraud, abuse. But they can only expose. The legislature needs to make the DOGE cuts permanent based on Trump's EO's. Have they done that? NOPE. They're ALL a performative body. Yes, there's a sliding scale with the liberals at the bottom, but they're all part of the same problem.
