Yes. (Coming from a guy who is in the process of PT for a complete pectoralis major tendon tear). Tendon strength is critical for actually using your muscles.

Nice man, I hope to continue for quite some time. Just started getting outside and leading both of which rock lol. And yes, the girls who climb are no joke and have fantastic body types. It's really rather impressive.
Be careful out there. Your mistakes get magnified tenfold on the sharp end. If you're anything less than 100%, mentally and physically, there's no shame in backing down and leading an 8a.

I definitely will, thanks! I tend to be safety obsessed even with injury prevention in training, so obviously I continue to be when at the will of gravity, nature, and human error on the wall. I'm not rushing to lead anything crazy or even follow hard routes outside until I'm really comfortable. It's more about the experience than number chasing so I have no problem doing 5.7s until I know myself and same goes for leading.

Luckily I have some very experienced friends and climbing partners who teach me a lot and are patient. Our gym has some great classes too which I've been getting in on.

I sat next to girl in the ER that was there for a rock/boulder climbing incident. Slipped and whacked her ankle on the way down. Dislocation, four fractures and one the "pieces" was rotated 180°. Took her six hours to see a doc.

You were seated next to my wife??

She jumped down from bouldering onto a pile of pads. Dislocated ankle, 3 fractures, foot was all floppy. That was the end of her climbing career, and the closest I've ever come to passing out.

Wow, sure sounds like it. But I hate to break it to you- she never mentioned a husband. I've never felt so sympathetic for somebody while being injured myself. She was a complete badass, beating back the pain, and got rewarded by being moved down the wait list.

Injuries like this are fucked up regardles of how built you are. I used to bench sets of 8 using 315 so i was fairly strong but even so i somehow managed to sprain my wrist when i did CPR when my dad passed away. I felt the sprain for about half a year.

Wife is just pissed at me now because she can't wear heels. I pulled my bicep on a gnarly overhang years ago, now I have to be cautious doing simple **** like oil changes. Cheater bars are mandatory nowadays. Yay, old age

242 but walked in at 236. I'm on my way down to 220. Dealing with injuries so the meet didn't go as planned. Finished 463/286/572. Next time.

So how can I effectively visit this thread and the beer thread and still be a boss?

Understanding macronutrient requirements. Smart balancing. Self control. Scheduling alcohol around your exercising habits so drinking doesn't get in the way.

Edit: or as I tell all my clients. Have some self respect and stop drinking if it get's the way of your goals.

I'm finding this out myself. I've effectively stopped going out to bars 2-3 times a week to just once maybe every other 2 weeks. Liver & wallet both seem to be happier.

But I like beer and whisky.

It's not like I binge drink. I just enjoy them one at a time. Also I don't go to the gym that much because kids.

You can like them, just do some leg work and understand when/where it is appropriate to do so.

Also don't bring your kids up as an excuse. That's in poor taste.
