My 1st world dilemma right now is whether I want to run e85, which I like because it's so safe, but don't need because even as is this thing is going to be a rocket, and because a proper fuel setup for e85 is :burncash::burncash::burncash:

I'll likely settle for a measly 600hp on a super conservative 8psi 91oct tune

whats the stock tranny on those things hold?

The mt82's are completely hit and miss. Some grenade at 650 and some hold 1000
The 6r80's are way more consistent and take just about anything you got, up to 1000-1200
I've only ever seen a couple blown up, and those at 1200+

Correct. Stock system flex fuel only good for n/a and simple bolt ons.
Boost + e85 requires $2500-3500 more in fuel aystem parts.

Depending on what happens in the next few months, I'm interviewing for a new job Thursday (Already did an intial with the talent guy and a writing assesment which was not trivial) and it would mean a MASSIVE raise. If I get it, I'm going to go drive new a Camaro SS.

Even the V6 1LE Camaro beat the new GT around VIR, and the Camaro has more goodies like diff cooler, stand alone oil cooler, etc. And it's a few hundred pounds lighter.

Basically, the ideal way is to convert to return style, run a dual or triple pump setup, the whole 9 yards. It's not absolutely mandatory but a really good idea.

The new SS is fast, real fast, but the one you want will be 52k I think, and IIRC they are only about 100-150lb lighter. Either way really fast car out of the box and more ready for track out of the box from what I'm seeing.

Not as many options for e85 and all that due to direct injection, but we both know that doesn't matter much with how fast that car is and can be made even as is.

Nope, a 2017 Camaro 1SS has an MSRP of $37,900. Add $2k if you want the Magnerhetorical shock setup. I wouldn't care about ordering a bunch of fancy options.

Looks like it Cunningham Motorsports (no idea if they are legit) made another 33whp 36wtq with the car bone stock on maybe E70 .

They indicate in thread the DI system still has plenty of overhead for more mods. Intake, good catless longtube headers w/crossover and E85 and suspect this thing would be approaching 460whp...........that's absolutely nuts. That's VooDoo power, although without the sound.

Last I looked they were way more expensive. But perhaps they dropped in price like crazy lately. They're not all that new anymore, after all.

If you don't need rear seats tho, why not get a vette? I would 100% be driving one if I didn't absolutely require to have a rear seat, no matter how small or cramped. You can get lightly used low mile c7's for killer deals right now.

Vlad, most of the ones on dealer lots are loaded models with MSRPs around $50k. But going with cloth seats and only performance-enhancing options you can still be in one for under $40k.

That's exactly what I did with my '13 GT Track Pack. Base model, only the track pack. MSRP was ~$33,500, since I special ordered with a nice cash deposit, so they literally had to do no work, I paid around $30,500 IIRC.


I would just want a '17 SS 1LE, White, Grey cloth seats, Mag dampers. Under $40k MSRP and I bet I could get one cheaper still. That would be an absolute MONSTER of a car.

You'll probably need to special order it and wait a few months.

Which is fine, I did the same thing with my Mustang.

I test drove a Camaro SS (was an auto) last time I went to utah and was super disappointed. Hopefully they just had regular in it or something. the car just did nothing for me, unlike the last Mustang GT (or 5th gen SS) did.

That's odd. If you liked the 5th gen SS, the 6th gen should knock your socks off.

I'll say this though: when just test driving a car, the auto always disappoints. You're just expecting the rawness of the 6sp, and you're just interacting with the car for a few minutes. When you live with one for a while though, it seriously grows on you (just my opinion, but you can see this echoed everywhere on the forums, so obviously I'm not alone). It's just as fast (in most cases faster), and you still get the option of fast/aggressive "manual" shifting when you're not tired and when you wanna have fun. You give up a little to get a lot of versatility and comfort. But that 1 time out of 10 when I just wanna be a hooligan, I must admit I do miss the manual a bit.

Right? I was just really disappointed with the car because I was expecting something amazing and was met with a... decent car. Also, the transmission SUCKED. I love some automatics, really enjoy the new Mazda's autos and love the DSG VW stuff, but this new 8-speed was a huge disappointment for me.

Ahh, looks like I was mixed up on some of the options, I would want the 1LE package, which adds another $6500 to the $37,900 MSRP. That's the package that adds all the EXTRA heavy duty, mag shocks, diff cooler, etc.

That's starting to get up there in price.

EDIT: Maybe not on the cooling, the way they have the standard stuff and extra stuff listed on the 1SS trim level is kind of confusing.

We have 2 RS and a SS. Sadly I haven't had a reason to test drive any of them yet. The guys up front never order any of the good packages though. We just had a bumblebee ZL1 traded in on saturday and they immediately wholesaled it.
