How Do I Handle a Coworker Who Slacks Off?

I'm only working too hard, because I don't want to be there several hours late every night. I like getting some time away from that evil place. Me and this guy actually "share" some tasks and jobs that we are supposed to help each other with. I've up till now even avoided talking to him about him not doing his part because I know my rage will not allow me to just talk when he says something smart as a reply, and I really need income right now, even if it is **** poor.

crankshaft knife edging, is it REALLY worth it? I am having a hard time in finding data for a crankshaft being knife edged, and I am on the phone with my machinist trying to get a plan lined up for when I bring my supra motor in.

 

So you have essentially indicated to him that his behavior was perfectly acceptable to you. Don't be surprised when he has no clue why you are suddenly freaking out. He doesn't know there is a problem, or a history of problems. This will be the conversation where he calmly says "Chill out dude, it's the first I've heard of it" while you look like a raving psychopath to everyone around you. Ground rules in any relationship should be set early and administered evenly to prevent misunderstandings just like this. Don't be surprised if your lack of communication causes you to now look like the bad guy. You are, in essence, changing the operating rules at this point.

I'm sorry to be the one to point this out. It is one of the things I learned about in training for doing relationship counseling way back when.

No, trust me, he knows he is a lazy ****. I'm not the only one who is pissed about him. Pretty much all of my coworkers are of the same opinion as me and we all talk about it while he and my supervisor are not around. I'm just one of the few who doesn't mind looking like a ********. Everyone else still treats him civil and friendly. I can't fake friendly conversation with someone I want to punch their teeth down their throat. And while I haven't talked to him directly about it, as it's not my job to do so, myself and everyone else has given him plenty of hints that we disapprove of his lazy ****.

**** actually nearly boiled over yesterday when to cover his ***, he sent my our supervisor that he is all buddy buddy with an email, pretty much doing a full 180 on the reality of the situation and got everyone else in trouble for "not pulling our weight". It was a preemptive strike, since I know he could feel the frustration towards him reaching a boiling point. Of course my bitch of a supervisor believes his *** and now myself and all of my coworkers got angry emails and treated like **** yesterday. It took everything in my power to not walk over to his desk and walk up behind him and put him in a boa constrictor like choke hold until you passed out, then slap my supervisor in the face and walk out to my car and leave. Being told I'm not pulling my weight when I'm one of, if not the hardest worked ************* on my shift, is not cool.

This new job prospect needs to hurry up and pan out so I can get the **** out of that place. Every day I feel like I'm seconds away from a heart attack. They say stress reduces your life span. I'll be lucky to see 50 with all of the anxiety and stress issues I deal with.

Well that's even better. The boss over the entire lab is a lazy **** who looks like Dilbert. He is pretty new, and he lets the supervisors just sort of run free, so he doesn't have to work. All that going to him would get me was a bitching from my supervisor when word got back to her that I was going over her head. It's really just a shitty mess, and I just need to hold out until I can jump ship.

 

So guys. I have a friend selling his 2002 S2000, white with red interior, 145k miles, for $6000, but I can probably make him take $5000. I'm slightly interested... but it has issues. For starters, the top has a rip in each side (driver and passenger) that goes all the way through, so new top. It would need a new passenger side fender and the door would need some damage repaired. None of it is really that bad though. The lower rear quarter panel right behind the door has some weird damage, possibly capable of producing rust issues in the future. Also, the trans has issues with not going into 5th gear. Aside from those issues, it needs new tires, and the seats were replaced by the previous owner from the awesome stock leather seats which I love, to shitty red ebay racing seats that are all sorts of fucked up and uncomfortable. It seems to run strong and feels good in steering, suspension and brakes. The paint overall is not that great, maybe a 6/10, with a lot of swirl and dullness. Cleaned up it would be much better. I'm on the fence about it. For AS LITTLE AS $2k-$3k, I could have it back up and running in good shape, but other **** might be looming. Not sure I want another fixer upper roadster. For $5,000 though, I'm still tempted. Even in poor shape with 150k miles or more, and as old as 2000 year models around here, they still go for $11,000 to $13,000.

You are talking bodywork it sounds like, and possibly new paint depending on thickness. That's $$$$$.

 

No idea. It looks OK though. Might just be lack of recent care. He got a newer STI a few months ago and the S2K has been left to sit. Body work I could do myself, and paint for that matter. The top I am hesitant about doing, and well as repairing the rear quarter panel spot. Looks like something hit it pretty hard, but it's only about the size of a hockey puck. Interior is great aside from ebay seats.

 

If it just looks like the size of a hockeypuck, you'll probably have much deeper damage.

Repairing quarter panels can be a complete bitch. I had what appeared to just be a ding in my Miata rear quarter panel (Driver's side, see my build thread). I ended up having to basically do an entire restoration job on the rear panel, including using a good couple dozen welded studs, soldering, and a ridiculous amount of repeated filler/glazing to finally get it right.

Be certain you know what you are getting into, and don't underestimate the cost of bodywork/paint. Quarter panels are one of the few things I truly fear - you cannot replace them without an insane amount of work.

 

My miata has a rollcage, I am happy.
