Why should I buy this thing again?" Well, I'll tell you: the Mazdaspeed3 is worth every red cent because it's capital-F, capital-U, capital-N, double underline, two stripes of highlighter, sprinkle it with glitter: FUN.
Never mind tenths of a second at the Nerd-burgring, never mind 0-60 times and skidpad g's and all the other quantitative nonsense we use to determine which car is best. The Mazdaspeed3 is a great car because the first time I gave it the beans it elicited from me a raucous bark of laughter. Yes, the 'Speed3 might better suit a straight-jacket than a car-cover, but I couldn't wait to get out and drive it.
The 'Speed3 grips like a cat on a curtain and shakes a tail feather on throttle lift-off. It surges forward with sudden great big gobs of torque and in third gear you can pass anything up to and including tachyons.

Woot! A set of silver 14x7 RP-F1's on their way. Now to order the Star Specs. Though that'll be next paycheck.
**** that, tires on the way too. I just couldn't stand having wheels on the way, and no tires to put on them. 195/60/14 Star Specs in route from the flooded state of LA. Estimated delivery to Birmingham, tomorrow. LOL, yeah right.

I dropped by my buddy's auto repair shop the other day and saw a strange engine configuration I didn't know existed. He had a Toyota Previa van up on the lift. The engine was an inline 4 cyl laid over on its side nearly flat, 15 degrees from horizontal, with the oil pan built onto what would normally be the side of the block. It was mounted between the front and rear axles with a driveshaft going to a solid rear axle and another 3ft long driveshaft hooked to the crank pulley going up to all of the accessories which were remotely mounted up under the hood. Very unusual configuration...
It was a 2.4 liter and Toyota calls it the 2TZ-FE, fwiw. It looks like it would fit under the hood of an aircooled VW, and they made all of them supercharged in '96-'97 @ 160hp.
Just nerding out over the unique engineering.

Did you notice the oil res. under the hood as well? I holds 2-3 quarts. The engines were known to consume oil, so they have a sensor that detects low oil and pulls from the res.
IIRC you could even get the van in a manual transmission (very rare)

Whatever. I've been electricuted like 10 times in the last two days and have lots of gushing wounds, but I need like baby sized band-aids...I'm starting to wonder if people out there use band-aids for knife wounds and gun shots judging solely on how big these things are.
or maybe I have more joints in my fingers than the average person. Do your fingers have three segments? Because it's impossible to wrap a band-aid around a finger and still bend my joints...
